Thank you for the opportunity to share my adventure travels in Latin America, I am glad I did it. It was another great event that you and the volunteers worked hard to put on, thank you and everyone that helped, it could not have happened without you guys.

I'm planning a little 7 week jaunt to Alaska, Yukon and NW Territories for next summer. I have a tentative route if interested. Buying a new tent for the trip after THE WIND did in my 30 year old one.

drunk monkey telling me the noobs rally was his first dirt experience and gave him the confidence.

marty. you're a brave man to sleep in a tent in bear country. 7 weeks, i'm envious. keep me in the loop.

i need the nerve to quit my job to ride more than 4 weeks.

    Joel,

How do you like your AT on the road? How does it do on the interstate? Have you ridden it for long periods @ freeway speeds?

marty. think being unemployed and collecting $ is better than retiring, unless for 6 months.

the AT w/ DCT is good enough for me. not having to manually shift at all for 8 hours is magical. i hurt my left wrist (not riding related) and so painful that i will never able to pull the clutch cable if it was a manual, and we're talking from San Jose to my house.

the bike was smooth, never felt obtrusive. never need for more power, with me in full gear and 50 lbs of luggage, i can pass whenever i want. wish it has a cruise control, but i have the cheap throttle paddle or cramp buster.

buffering at times is annoying, i would like to see a taller windshield or ditch the XD helmet in favor of a street helmet or keep the XD with the sun visor removed.

great in gas mileage on the freeway. about 47 mpg. i think my 950 did get that much.

on the twisties with tkc 80, wasn't bad, but at much slower speed. lots of fun roads north of fairfield and also did several in the central cal, like hw46, creston, hw58, hudson ranch road, etc.

the stock seat definitely has to go, if not for the moto skiveez, i would be stopping every 30 minutes.

on dirt or gravel, it took me a while to get used to the electronics, but afterwards i just love them - g mode, sport mode 2, tc 2, rear abs off, etc, and never had a stalling issue. i had a flat on the rear while going up a rocky hill. the bike felt weird since it confused the electronics. the tire pretty much came off the rim. after putting a new tube, tried to inflate it with a 12vdc pump but will only go up to 27 psi, thankfully enough to seat the bead. those bicycle air pump will have no use.

the plan is ride the AT for traveling with some forest roast along the way and go to various adv rallies. definitely it can go farther than my body can handle.

so far, no mechanical issue and maintenance is cheap.

on my way home, it was a monday and didn't see a single person. if i dropped the bike, might as well set up my tent next to it and wait for someone.
