Emma Bristow failed to repeat her Scott Silver Spoon this year with a 34th placing.

I think that video answers a question I've had - if I get into trials am I relegated to courses or small play areas or can trials riders ride miles of enduro type single track.

Plainly, it's the latter. Makes the decision to get one easier. Oh oh ;)

Cool video, but I'm glad there's a mute button.

It does wear by the end, but in the first 3rd it almost conveys the frenetic approach which must go into such a hard course.

The young man in the video said it was a race. And he would piss himself. So they are timed as well as scored in sections?Passing in sections is a sight to see!

Timed and observation.... Fastest rider to finish sets "standard time" for the trial. If rider exceeds 20 mph average speed for the course (highly unlikely) they are disqualified. Rider with lowest observed score and fastest time from the standard time wins. Riders also lose a point for every minute they finish behind standard time. No riding around taking a 5 whenever you feel like it.... If a rider doesn't make a real attempt at the section, they get 50 points. If they do it again.... excluded. A rider must finish within 2.5 hours of standard time, to be considered a finisher.

Rider must weigh speed versus clean riding to do well.
