Got in to Savannah, TN around midnight.
Just finished unpacking bikes and washing clothes.
3 hour delay today across 3 instances of mechanical issues.
    1) Flat tire, my rear. Picked up a nail. Decided to patch because we only have one spare rear. I am frugal so I used the smallest patch. Should have used the largest. 20 minutes later we were putting the spare tube in. Patch had rolled just enough that air leaked by.

Gatret got picture of 2" diameter copperhead that thought we looked good for dinner. Good Samaritan in pickup told us to look out and ran it over. Ran it over a second time for good measure.

    2) Flat tire, my rear. See above. Put in spare tube. Went faster the second time. Got Garret to carry tube with hole. My bike getting lighter every day.

    3) About 9 PM Garrett's headlight no longer in my mirror. I go back. His kickstand spring had fallen off and bike stalled as result. We looked for spring for 30 minutes to no avail. Rock Strap instead of safety wire or zip ties allows continued use of kickstand by simply unsnapping to use and snapping to go.

Motel lets us wash clothes, rest better, and is a bit faster. Motel tonight is right on route.

We stayed off the rock. Went to the right. A bit deeper, but easy peasy.

Are you sure Garret did not lose it on purpose, to lighten his load?

I noticed he has no cover for the tailpipe either...:hmmmmm

    Up at 8 AM.
    Had breakfast.
Garret's heat shield eating into his bag - had to adjust.
Need to procure spare rear tube - that is a head scratcher.
Fortumately, they have a dryer here because nothing dried overnight.
Garrett wore water shoes all day yesterday because his boots were sopping wet from sweating.
He is using hair dryer to dry them. Said some of the puddles we went through last night were very cold.

These gloves SUCK. They suck so bad that I put normal gloves back on after stopping for fuel while it was raining.
If you can get them on, they work great, but that is a huge if.
Problem is the liner is loose and you must be extremely careful pulling hands out else finger liners come out of fingers and getting them back in can take tens of minutes!
I sent these back to Klim last year after a huge problem with them. This year I am going to send them back and tell them to keep them.[IMG]

    Damn!
Saw Garret putting all the stuff from his Fandango tank bag back in. That's odd I think to myself. You housecleaning I ask. He says "Your bag didn't leak? Because my wallet, towel,... everything was soaked."

Now I am trying to dry everything in my Fandango tank bag

He actually poured water out of his.
I thought these things were supposed to keep stuff dry.

    Re-writing my check list.
Map pocket on Fandango is apparently designed to wash items while you ride.[IMG]

Ken being watched by the native elders. This photo is from the second tire change. Long wet day, but still having fun.

Lots of wildlife last night making our way through the woods to Savanna. We both dodged multiple deer, one even clipped my fender or threw up a rock as it whizzed by. At one point a coyote came out of the woods on my left at full sprint, paralleled us for a few seconds and then darted between our bikes. Last close call was a hog the size of Sasquatch that scared the crap out of me at a water crossing . Ken went through the water then I started across, about half way this hog comes roaring through the water from left to right about three feet in front of me. Good times
Did I mention that the whole time this was going on it was dark and raining.

I don't remember the brand right now but my rain gloves do the same. It's a pain in the ass.
