So I test rode a 1250GS, and it was pretty damn nice. I have not test ridden a 1200, so I wanted to come here for some advice.

I was quoted 31200€ for the brand spanker 1250. There is a 2018 1200 non HP for about 6 grand less. It has the TFT screen etc. And about 18000km on the clock. Comes with some 3 panniers too and a tank bag, the 1250 only has a rear saddle pannier or whatever it is called.

Anyway my question is, is the 1200GS 6 grand worse than the 1250?

    Thanks

I think you need to ride the 1200 before you can make a decision.

It's not.. just a little less power and no camshifting ..

the true question really is.. do you care enough about spending the $6K for the latest and greatest..

If you can sleep a night spending an extra $6k, then you will be very happy with the new 1250.

If you want to save $6k, you will be very happy with the 2018 1200. Lol

I’ve had both. Imho the 1250 is a huge improvement.

1200 is used got 18000 km on it. 1250 is brand new $6K in not a big difference when you compare new VS used. It is not matter of new vs left over stock. It is new VS used. If it is me I would buy the new

    Agreed, i would too.

But I did pick up a 2017 rallye w/ less than 10k miles with custom touratech suspension upgrade for $15k.. so im more than satisfied..

OP was quoted 31200€ for the new and the used is only $6K less which will make the used one $25200 euros that is lot for used bike. Even on your case difference between new and use was almost 10K

Thanks for the replies. I think 25k€ is a bit much for the used one. Closer to 20k€ would be acceptable. Otherwise the new one seems to be the better option.

    Umm... Ehrm.... Oops

I got a 2017 adventure with everything on it and 13000km for 10000 CDN less then a new 1250. But it really was in new condition, brand new rubber and even fresh bright headers on it cause the guy had gone after market when new and the dealers had just put the originals back on when he traded up. To me, 10k will fly me and the bike to Europe for a month. So pretty easy decision.

10k difference would definitely sway my decision.
When I go test the 1200 (if it’s available then anymore since its a ~4 hour drive) I will see how low they can go.

    Thanks for the reply
