Some of us were checking to see if they had any for the bikes they own. Nope. Almost claimed it for the Africa Twin that I'd like to own soon but maybe shouldn't go buying parts before I've committed to buying a bike, eh?

    I could use some pegs...

Although does it mean you have to buy thier torque wrench? I already have one of those.

So I got home and was working at my desk and glanced over at my Cards Against Humanity deck. I really should have brought that with me to play with out on the porch with a few (too many) beers!

    Wednesday (3/21)

Woke up early wednesday, grabbed my breakfast, and wandered over to the springs for a morning soak.

A bit before sunrise and the sky was on fire.

Had the Crystal Pool all to myself for well over an hour.

Sunlight briefly peeked under the cloud layer to light up the top of the Inyos.

Glen likes to sleep in, but I had a long day planned, so back to camp to make sure the guys were up.

    They were :thumb
    [IMG]

Unfortunately, Chris decided it was time for him to head back. Just wasn't feeling right to ride.
So it goes. We'll see you next time Chirs :wave

Since we planned to stay here two nights, Glen and I unloaded whatever camp gear we had left on the bikes in order to travel lighter for the day.

We rolled out past the second springs (Palm Springs), heading for Steele Pass.

Despite appearances, this is actually better than usual shape.

Three miles of rocky wash to the Upper Warm Spring, then the road improved to a flowing gravel two track.

Stopped for a short break a few miles before the pass because I was expecting some hard work up ahead :nod
    [IMG]

For a mile or so, the grade gets steeper, the turns get a bit tighter, the gravel gets much deeper, and the rocks get much bigger.

Looking back down... the hot springs are way back there towards the valley floor.

Just before the last ramp to the top, I stop Glen to go for a short hike in search of a local landmark.

    The Marble Bath
    [IMG]

Heading back to the bikes and I we are starting to see patched of blue sky. That is a good sign :clap

    Wednesday (3/21)

Over the top and heading towards Eureka Valley. This section is a fun roller-coaster ride :ricky
    [IMG]

I wave Glen ahead so that I can get some action shots (lots more in my SmugMug ).

Super fun riding side-by-side with a trusted buddy :thumb
    [IMG]

    Dropping into Dedeckera Canyon.

Amazing colors :bow Cheap camera does not do justice.

Dropping off the first of several new steps that didn't used to be there.

Looking back up. I could do it on my 950, but would need to be careful. Not as much fun as a small bike.

Breaking out into Eureaka Valley and a first good look at one of the highest dunes in North America.

The sand road around the east side of the dune was about as firm as I have ever seen it. Maybe they got some moisture recently.

    Soaking it in.

Continuing on... No surprises other than a few very deep silt puddles around the north end.

There is a small dry camp area at the end of the main road coming in from Big Pine. Good place to take a break.

    Replied, thanks!

I'd love to but I'll be in Moab without the kids for a week in October (poor me) so I can't afford the divorce that would come with it.
