    Hello everyone!
This weekend, I'm planning to buy one of the two KTM big Adventure bikes.
I'm still debating between the 1090 Adventure R and 1290 Super Adventure R. last summer, I demoed the 1290, but I didn't get a chance to demo the 1090, so I could compare them.
The main reason of buying this Adventure bike, is to attend at KTM Rally, other similar events and riding off road and some single trails.
I would like to mention that I never owned an Adventure bike, but I used to race Harescramble and MTB.
    What do you guys recommend?
    Thank you!

    Do a pro's and con's list.
For me the 1090 isn't "cheap" enough, light enough, or that much better than the 1290. The Cruise control is bang on, and I ride hard stuff on my 1290. Hayden, Hancock, Schofield passes.... Either one is a blast.

I’ve been looking at the 1290 for a couple of years and have reservations about the amount of technology

I just want to ride a motorcycle not pilot a spaceship

Luckily the local dealer won’t let you just ride one without a 10% deposit, so I avoided being sold one

"Shootin and scootin". . .dude, let's ride! I'm here in FoCo too.

Have not ridden the 1290, but the 1090 is a hoot, and a bit lighter (and less money). If you're new to this, I'd rec the 1090, as it's lighter, less $ and has more than enough power. . . .

Oh wait, did you already buy something this weekend?

    Hi!
I couldn't make it to the dealer which is almost 3 hours away from me.
I'm taking my trade with me and I'm planning to go there on Friday. Thanks.

if you're going to tour more, and only offroad occasionally - the 1290 Super Adventure S is a great choice.

@MurphCO - I bought the SA-S without ever having ridden the big 1290 LC8, only a few 950/990's over the years... it's an amazing bike.

Just went from a 1190R to a 1090 R. Very happy with the handling off road. I had a full Konflict suspension on the 1190 and totally stock on the 1090. I don't feel much difference! 1090 feels lighter and more nimble.
I do miss the 150+ hp on the street though. I think that's all I would enjoy on the 1290...160 hp on the street.

Just got a 1290 SA-R (through break-in miles and still having a few things changed). Much larger and way more power than the 950/990's (still have a couple in the garage). Hard to imagine it'd be better on dirt than the 06 950 ADV-S, but we'll see. Electronics seem OK so far, a few annoying things. They are not as polished or as effective as the latest Ducati IMU.

I'm in Fort Collins and up for almost any rides. I'm on the Dad Standard Schedule but I can be free most weekdays with a little notice.
