I was the first to arrive with camping equipment on Tuesday. Left the Casita there Wednesday to return home to the ranch to do ranchy things and take Claire home. What I saw of the area was terrain that is surprisingly similar to TTC. Forested with rocks sticking out of leaf- and moss-covered hillsides. I was told there is rocky creek, sand... in general a good bit of variety. The trials site is some or all in Oklahoma, in between Uniontown, AR, and Short, OK, about 20 minutes from Van Buren, AR, which is on I-40. Everything you need is right there on AR 59 north of I-40 in Van Buren. There's even an Aldi that has wonderful, sliced sourdough bread. The trials site is in Yeti country and feels quite remote. From Keenan Winters' mail box to the forested and open parking area is about a half mile of narrow road. This can be intimidating to the big rigs, but they do get through. It's going to be HOT for the weekend. I hope my cooling vest arrives today!
