Yellow Dog and Ladybug present the 1st annual 2019

    Beater Bike Bonanza,
Non-Beater Dual Sport ride, and Family Fun
Weekend of July 13, 2019 - the ride will be Saturday.
    Fairgrounds at John Day, OR
    http://www.grantcountyfairgrounds.com

To qualify as a Beater the spend is a total of $750.00 or less to purchase, prep for riding and street legal. Tax and License isn't part of the $750.00.

No limit on size or brand but it does need to be street legal.
The ride will be about 200 miles give or take 50 on easy dirt and pavement.
It’s all about fun and things will be on the honor system.

    Beater Bike Poker Run
Non- Beater Dual Sport Poker Run

Also if there is an interest:
    Kids games in camp
Something for people to do in town that don’t ride but will be there supporting their favorite riders.

Dinner Sat. Night: Provided by Apple Jam and an unnamed friend or two. (Donation to help pay for the food).

The priority is the Beater Bikes and their riders but we want others without beaters to join in on the fun so there will be a poker run open to all bikes as well.

Most important: HAVE FUN and Don’t be a jerk

    Camping:
RVs $30 per night per RV
Tents $15 per night per tent - in grassy area.
    There are showers.
Bikes are allowed to park on the grass next to the tents but no 4 wheeled vehicles on the lawn.
No reservations needed for tent camping.
RV site Reservations: call 541.575.1900 Office Hours are Monday 7:00 AM-4:00 PM Tuesday-Friday 8:30-5:00 – Let them know you are with the Beater Bike Bonanza.

We will be doing this as a benefit event to help support a worthy group in John Day, OR

Be sure to subscribe to this thread and check every so often because there is a lot more information coming as we get closer to the event . . . .

Judging for the Best Beater Bike = Spirit Points
It's all about bringing older motorcycles back to life, not having to spend a small fortune to enjoy riding a motorcycle, and having tons of fun.

The Beater Bikes will be judged on a number of things and we will be asking the non-Beater Bike riders to assist with this. Jungle Man has given us a lot of ideas and we will add more as we come up with them. Again this is on the honor system and some of this will be done by guessing. Some things you get points for and others you lose points for. :lol3 We may or may not use all these but they look good to me.

Some of these, like the first two, might be used for the regular motorcycle poker run too.

    Spirit Points:
    • How slow can you go? At camp or at one of the checkpoints
    • Most trash collected – Let's show the John Day area that motorcyclists are good land stewards and do a little cleanup along the way. You’ll be provided with a trash bag so bring some bungies or tie downs to strap your trash to the bike.
    • Most trash created by things breaking and falling off of bike.
    • Most improved (from fine tuning and fixing along the way)
    • Most ghetto = in biker terms “rat bike”
    • Classiest
    • Oldest Beater
    • Newest Beater
    • Oldest Rider
    • Youngest Rider
    • Longest distance traveled to get to the event
    • Least distance traveled to get to the event
    • Extra points if you ride your Beater to the event
    • First one to dump it – Witnesses get points for telling on their buddies
    • First one injured (let’s hope no one gets points for this).
    • First one towed by another rider. (Don’t forget your tow strap just in case)
    • First to DNF (Did Not Finish the route)
    • First one to have a run in with the law - Hope this doesn't happen.
    • Most tire tread left
    • Least tire tread left
    • Lowest budget
    • Most calls (or missed calls) from significant other – bring your significant other with you so you're not getting those calls.
    • Fanciest camp
    • Most Ghetto camp
    • Best Riding gear that goes with the era/style of the Beater
    • Most spare parts carried
    • Best MPG
    • Worst MPG
    • Heaviest Beater (includes everything packed during the poker run)
    • Lightest Beater (includes everything packed during the poker run)
    • Most broken ? ( I need ideas for this)
    • Most miles put on during the event. From the time you sign your bike in until finish time Sat. (times yet to be determined)
    • Most miles on the beater
    • Least miles on the beater
    • Dirtiest Beater
    • Cleanest Beater
    • Biggest oil spot under bike
    • Most improved
    • Tire changing competition
We’ll have a few tie breakers too just in case.

Awesome! I'll accept your offer for helping with a checkpoint. You'll still be doing the poker run just first out and last back.

Are you in with a Beater Bike or Dual Sport?

I'll be bringing one beater bike for sure and possibly one supermoto bike. The supermoto was just slightly over the $ limit but will be a spare if I need it, lol.

Ummm, my 'beater' bike is my daily ride....does it count if it's closing in on 200k miles with less than 10 baths?

If you have under $750 into it for purchasing and getting it run it's good. 200k and less than 10 baths makes it even better. Hmmmmmm two more spirit point ideas.

When it gets to about 2 weeks before the campout the barbs will pop up and give you the incentive to get off that fence. :lol3:clap
