We are at the pisco biv watching folk get stuck going up the dune to the spectator zone. Sweet sounding v8 pulling folk out!

There was a Brit plated bike came past us earlier going up the dune - anyone on the forum?

We are being told only 1 stage tomorrow. That correct? Seems odd as bikes due through at end of ss1 loop at 10am....

Anyone stalking the race, pls dm if you want to catch up, share resources, have a beer etc. There's another car with South Africans, a Czech advrider lass, and I think the others who were in Miraflores - all chasing.

    Roll on the morning!

    P. S. Music n fireworks ongoing

Adding some Arequipa info we have

The road closures on the Ministry of Transport site for trucks on Thurs are for PE 34A from km166 Imata, San Antonio de Chuca, Caylloma Arequipa to km 16 on PU 122 (Mañazo, Puño)

There's more but on ailing phone. It all implies a close pass to Lake Titicaca... We think... Long liaisons and stages from Arequipa biv plus marathon... Thoughts from anyone with better access to websites etc much appreciated.

Stage 2: just been told same start, different route tho, as last year. So, out of biv, turn left south on panamsur, then right. (I'll edit this with more details later!)

This is a screenshot from france 4 on first raceday in program Le Dakar.

    vlcsnap-00014.jpg

Stage 3 Zone spectators at 187km probably at CP because crossing the road. Then the Stage 3 goes for 900m through the dry riverbed.

Stage 7 comes from the south, according to the low S7WPS4 is this early in the stage.
Maybe the S7 goes straight. Or take the riverbed again.

Agreed. MyWay, Oso, Hog -Awesome! I pulled the ASO Stage 2 (342km special) info together against a scale to get approximate WP/CP distances. Is this useful for anyone else?

One day, Myway, Hogwild and Oso will be allowed to reveal that they are managers of their countries intelligence agencies and that they assigned taskforces of on the ground agents, GIS specialists, low orbit sattelite and drone flights to this thing. Till then, thanks a lot!

Usefull, yes, Hogwild made a DSS to ASS, kml or gpx, in programs you can give them a elevation profile. This could be layed over the ASO profile of the stage. In the past Hogwild controlled if the SS fits.
Then we can make some conclusion.
Is it correct, or did ASO tricked us, by using a different picture.

Right - it's only as potentially useful as the info ASO allows us common folk to see is accurate.

I should be able to pull a few more stages together and post them later today.

    Or something else!

It looks to me like the ASO elevation profile is way off. Even the elevation at DSS is not correct. And at a couple of places, they race on the beach, at an elevation of 0, but their profile doesn't show that.

I had this stage done a bit earlier, but didn't want to post it until it was too late for any competitors to use. If I have time, I'll show a bit more from this stage.
