Ultimate stealth exploring bike! What is experience with battery life? (I know it can vary alot, flat/hilly, low/high speed)
Incredibly cool little bike! I totally foresee having one of these type of bikes in my stable at some point. I have a 10acre lot next door that is soooo tempting to go ride on but my current bikes would draw alot of attention! I went to their website and the "english" version looks like it was translated by Alexa or Siri - very odd wording. Reminds me of some of the cheap chinese amazon listing details... Can you enlighten us on the above questions as well as all the real-world specs on range, charging times (220 vs 120?), special charger, swappable batts, parts and dealer support, and more? Where in WV? I am over there often...
The terrain here is very hilly. I’ve done several 18-25 mile loops that include a steep hill climb or two at speeds of 10-30 mph. The battery has a 10 bar power indicator and I’ve never ran the battery down to the last bar so you could probably push that distance a little. As a play bike in the back yard with only burst of throttle for short hills and obstacles I can ride 2+ hours and barley get the battery down 2-3 bars. This should indicate around 60-70% battery life left. It is currently set up as a progressive rear brake / regen. Honestly this is probably my favorite feature and it works extremely well. You can switch it over to act as a clutch system as well. I’m in Madison, Wv. The charger is made by Delta Q and is 120. Charge time I would estimate 2-3 hours but I’ve never timed it. The battery is swappable and can be done so pretty quick. You remove three screws holding the seat and then 3 hand fastening screws to remove th battery from the tray. Most of the bike parts are standard trials bike parts (wheels, forks, brakes, chain, levers, handlebars). The quality of the bike is as good as any major brand bike. Support from EM seems fair but they are not the fastest in replying to any questions you may have. I’ve been told they are looking for a USA distributor to handle things here.
If this were the trials specific version, I'd consider trading my Beta 300 evo for it. My kid rides an electric and being quiet in the hood has value.
The entire battery pack can be switched out in just a few minutes. I do not know the cost for a new pack from EM. It’s a LiFePO4 pack and they claim 2000 cycles before the battery starts to degrade eventually down to 80% of its original capacity. If stored/charged/discharged properly I’ve seen claims from other LiFePO4 packs of 6-10 years from ebike riders.
I’m open to lots of options.. any 2018+ Ktm or husky 150/250 enduro bikes, Beta Xtrianer, Beta 200, Evo Sport, YZ250Fx. Possibly others as well. Would love to get my hands on a electric Ktm freeride but they are hard to find.
Mainly because I have a freeride 250r and love it.. The EM has a really low seat height and pure trials suspension. I feel like the KTM is more suited for trail riding.
