It is amazing what a different tank and fenders make!
I agree with the silver rims. :thumb
When did black rims become the thing?

    That’s awesome!

Black.... hmmmm around what? 2006 they started coming on KTMs but long before that the MX teams were running them.

$25 for a set of black 1-1/8” bar clamps with a proper 12mm stud for the Applied top clamp. The GPX stuff was only 10mm.

Yes, very friendly mso in many states. There’s a pretty active FB unofficial owners group, lots of plated bikes across the USA.

In Northern NJ it wouldn’t fly but I know one guy got it thru... Florida DMV was no prob.

As VI said, most states it is "possible" to tag it.
Some states it is easy to tag anything and the bike does come with all the legal lighting.
Some states are like California and Alaska where it is NOT possible to tag it legally.
    Check with your state requirements.

Got these in the mail and even managed to get them on the bike too!

The 55mm included bolts were too long so a trip to the store netted a pair of 40mm, perfect. Locked down and ready to ride again when I am.

Picked up an old 17mm SX front hub as the spoke length should match my later KTM spec spokes and rim...see if that’s true when it’s in hand. Thinking it will get a black paint job to match the rear hub, stuffed with new bearings and seals and laced up to the new GPX black rim. It goes against the common opinion but I like the black so that’s that!

Well enough to pull her out for a local ride to the boat ramp and grab a coffee. Lovely little motor. Great kick around thumper.

Vintagey looks and modern, turn key, effortless reliability. Lovin it.

Might try to lace up the black rim and GPX spokes to the 99 SX hub this next week?

Started the process of lowering the rear end. Im going to set a drop with negative preload first, then get the shock length I want before shipping it off for a proper internal drop. Pics to follow as I experiment.

Step two, getting a correct kickstand length!

But what is the spring rate curve going to look like? Will the rebound be able to cover it?
