This years ride will be October 19-20th. As usual the third weekend of October. The 2019 HNF will start in Martinsville, In at the Indy Restaurant It's official---just like 2017---the 2019 HNF will overnight at Twin Lakes Cedar Cabins. Call Susie or Kenny at 812-836-2329 or 812-549-5637. I have cabin #2 rented again. Now the rest of you can get your groups set up for the large cabins #4 and #5 @ $140 for 2 people + $10 for each additional person. Cabin #1 has a stove and cooking gear but no toilet @ $90 for 2 people + $10 additional person. Cabin #3 is $70 for 2 people + $10 additional person. Camping (tent or hammock) is still $10 per person---pay first then set up tent. Please post here or pm me when you confirm rental of any of the cabins---it calms my old nerves and informs others that they are too late making arrangements. Everyone has access to the toilet and shower building. I have finished the routes and will post a long and a shorter version of them in early October. For now i'm heading to Denver to visit my son and wife and my new granddaughter. Retirement has its advantages--i highly recommend it. News Flash---I checked the calendar and realized I won't get back to Indiana until Oct 9 or 10th----so i'll post the routes now. Look below Starting Point---Indy's Restaurant at Martinsville, In. N 39 24.289 W 86 26.261 Start time is up to you. Most riders will leave between 7 and 9 am. I recommend leaving as early as possible as the first day 'long' tracks are about 240 miles which works out to an 8 hour ride at 30 mph average. You fast guys can try to improve on that. Note----You can park your tow vehicle, van, truck or whatever at Indy's for the weekend--no charge. Night stop---Twin Lakes Cedar Cabins at 13545 Thrifty Road, Derby, In. 47525 N 37 59.026 W 86 33.579 No room for campers or trailers. German Ridge Rec area is a few miles southwest. The Tracks---There will be a long and a short version posted. Saturday /Sunday mileage for the long version is 240 / 206 miles and for the short version 220 / 180 miles. Note again---these are both full day rides---plan accordingly. There is one knobby section on the Saturday ride listed as 'Guthrie Creek'. It has a "shallow--maybe ??" creek crossing, possible downed trees, rock ledge up heading south and possible washouts. No real off road single or two track--sorry--this is Indiana Additional Tracks--- Food-Derby ---From Twin Lakes to Smackwater Cove Bar & Grill or gas and drinks, beer included, at Derby General Store Motel-Tell City---3 motels and many restaurants Rocky Point-Food---No longer exists--no food or gas there Gas is available at the 10 locations shown on the track download. Longest distance between gas stops is approximately 70 miles. Some are on the track and some are short distance off track.
