250 mm of suspension, a quickshifter and MTC. A poser bike for KTM fanboys.
They did it right with the 701
And a price increase of?
Where's the damn 790 Enduro!?
"Modern offroad looks...to enhance the family feel." Oh, boy.
Quickshifter on the 690 enduro poser bike alright.
I thought those things were more suited for road bikes.
You know, I simply have no desire for any of those "features" listed above. The new 701 looks very nice on paper, but considering how happy I am with my current set-up there is really no reason to make the swap.
Poor KTM, they apparently update the 690 with the latest and greatest "new/gotta have" motor and (sounds like) they attempt to fix the false neutral/shifting issue that so many have railed against.....but no love. Traction control and map select aren't important to me. But they seem to go with the territory these days. White plastic does look good. But not sure it adds much to riding enjoyment. FWIW
I haven't missed a shift in years on the 690, I learned not to try to feather it into gear. You want missed shifts, I'll let you take a ride on my '75 R90...
Me either...and no issue with the "old" motor and vibration either. Just reacting to the comments we hear over and over.
I kept wondering why they didn't put TC and corner ABS on the 701, making it a scaled down 1190 Adventure (and the new 690 Duke had both, so the tech was readily available). I appreciated both on the 1190 and miss them on my current 690.
This should be a sweet machine.
Wondering about the weight, it will certainly be a bit above the current model. And it looks like it will "feature" the crappy dash from the 701, unfortunately.
l like the looks but that's about it.
Still a lot of life left in my 2010...
Would be nice if it could tip over the scales (dry) at 125-130kg or so...
It would be certainly nice, but most likely won't happen. I guess it'll be at least as heavy as the current 701 (145kg dry).
250mm of travel, while the current 701 offers 275mm?
Downgrade incoming for the 701 or wrong informations on the powerpoint?
25mm/1" of fork travel difference (10 vs 11") may actually make a difference for a few riders on this forum. But, if truthful, very few, IMO.
So potentially a 3/4 inch lower seat ? I thought the 36 inch list of the 2018 was about an inch off-
Most would be better buying a klr and spend the rest or their money on tyres and fuel. If owning a ktm is that important to them they could get an orange sticker kir

No doubt some would be better with the KLR. I have recommended KLRs to several friends who were getting into dual sporting or whatever the hell we call this stuff. I continue to believe that the KLR and other bikes in this mold fill a much needed space...just as the KTMs do. If not owning a KTM is so important, I guess a guy can buy a white Husky....
