Thanks, Gavin. It looked like previous years' early entry usually happened sometime in December, I think? I'm pretty confident I've already decided I want to race. I'll do some learning on the time control stuff. That'll be the trickiest part for sure but I'm very excited to get up to speed.
I can teach you everything you need to know about time control over 2 beers time. It's not complicated.
Plus every rider between every stage is doing clock math. It kinda goes like... ok you 18, me 19, you 20,21 etc.
Thanks guys. I watched that video GoGoGavin41 posted which was helpful. Seems pretty straightforward, and that the most important thing is don’t check in early.
They will explain the time card in the novice competitor tourcher.... Poorly. Don't stress that at all. Worry more about getting advice from @keepshoveling
Plan on participating in the Rally Racing Clinic on Thursday February 28th just before the rally. It will get you up to speed before the race starts. Well worth it. I'll have details and pricing up in a few weeks. Here it is... BC Moto Rally Racing Clinic is on! The 6th annual BC Moto Rally Racing Clinic takes place February 28, 2019, Thursday prior to Sandblast Rally. Clinic registration and info: msreg.com/2019rallyclinic Don't let the competition get a wheel on you. Come ride, learn and have fun! A comprehensive clinic giving tips and strategies on roll chart use, riding techniques, terrain reading, line selection, time keeping and practice, practice, practice! The day will start with a brief "classroom session" followed with drills working on braking, cornering, riding techniques and conclude with plenty of practice on a simulated "rally stage" to put it all together. Whether you are a seasoned competitor, a novice rally racer, or maybe just interested in getting a taste of RallyMoto, this is a great chance to get accustomed to the sand while shaking off the cobwebs with tons of seat time. The class will utilize three sections of Sand Hills Forest roads unique to this clinic and are closed to the public. Rider safety is most important, while we encourage everyone to work on improving their skills and speed, this is a time to prepare for the race, not race day. Save the "little extra" for the Sandblast Rally! Sign in starts at 8:00 AM, class will start at 8:30 AM and conclude approximately at 5:00 PM with a break for lunch. Participants will use their personal dual sport motorcycle and are responsible for their own fuel and lunch. The group will be going to a local restaurant or you are welcome to pack a sack lunch. Clinic cost: $130 Space is limited, don't miss out! Sign up here: msreg.com/2019rallyclinic
Also worth noting.... Don't order the "biggest margarita you've got" from the Mexican places there. It's.... REALLY watered down.
Hahaha reminds me of quite a few Indy supercrosses...go to el Rodeo around the corner from Lucas oil for a pair of 32OZers, down them as fast as you could stand along with a giant burrito and queso, then stumble over to the stadium to watch Bubba crash again...
Hey Bill glad to hear you are offering up the Clinic again this year, if needed ill gladly volunteer to help again if you are short handed. i dug out the DR yesterday and hauled it off for a rebuild, im racing this year i hurt to sit out last year. i've got a group of buddies signing up to race, they should be a fun addition to the mix. see everyone in the sand!
i was literally sitting at the other table getting laughed at from getting run over by my sprinter after the race the year prior as you got the Margarita and i remember thinking i should have ordered a big ass margarita like that guy and kept my mouth closed lol
sup regs are out. http://www.sandblastrally.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/Sandblast_Sups_20181206.pdf
What? No two strokes? No bib mousses? I am shocked. Shocked and appalled. I'll never race in this town again.
You would have had to race at least once to be able to not do it again. I'm interpreting the email as " same route as last year"
