Last year we had a good time so I figure we'll give it another shot. North Central Washington Weekend Ride.

A limited number of folks can camp at my house. There are campgrounds within 5-20 minutes from the house. I have an outdoor fridge and a couple BBQs folks can use.

No packing up camp and moving, just day trips in the same area focused on 2 track & gravel. This ride will be like last year, big bike friendly with lots of 2 track (no single track).

No cost, no obligations, no guarantees. This is not a guided ride. You are your own support, rescue, recovery and navigation. I'm not liable for anything.

I need to stress that you should have a GPS or smart phone with the tracks on it.

Feel free to show up and camp on Friday and stay through Monday.

    Description Of the Tracks/Route:

    2019 NCW Day 1 AM
    [IMG]
You should probably get gas before you start, but the morning is only 71 miles. Start off where Aeneas Valley Road meets Peony Creek Road. Head up Peony Creek road to start the route. There is an optional side trip up to Tunk Mountain Lookout. The GPS track is called “Lookout Detour” and its a 5 mile out and back. Its red on the map. This is followed by a lot of 2 track which spits you out on Aeneas Valley Road near Lyman Lake. Head North to Cape Labelle road and through the Mt Anne block to Highway 20 and Republic. Pizza and Burgers are excellent as Steveo's. Get gas in Republic!

    2019 NCW Day 1 PM
    [IMG]
Leave Republic east on Hwy 20 to Hall Creek road and ride some excellent 2 track through the Sanpoil area. Rocky switch backs down to highway 21 and then up Scatter Creek road to the Swan Lake area. Scatter creek is a narrow, twisty, freshly paved road. Its a lot of fun but watch for traffic. Some rough/fast/fun 2 track roads most of the way to Aeneas valley. Last gas/beer/soda stop is at the Aeneas Valley Store (waypoint included). 60 miles in the afternoon.

    2019 NCW Day 2 AM
    [IMG]
Day 2 is faster and less technical than day 1 with 75 miles in the morning. Start at the same point as day 1- Aeneas Valley and Peony Creek Rd junction. Head up Peony Creek, over Tunk and into the Chewilikin. Sagebrush and ruts down to McLaughlin canyon where there is a historic ambush site and a nice view. Up 97 to Tonasket for ethanol free gas. Up Pine Creek Road to the fast and wide gravel of Horse Spring Coulee. There is a few miles of sandy two track and a view overlooking Spectacle Lake. Pavement to Loomis, then down the Sinlahekin and up Cecil Creek for some fast 2 track and gravel to Conconully. Lunch and gas in Conconully.

    2019 NCW Day 2 PM
    [IMG]
Lunch/gas in Conconully and a quick 38 mile ride back to where we started. Start by leaving town the same way you came in, then a bit of two track along the back of Blue lake. Take some fast gravel over Pine Creek and back to Tonasket, then up highway 20 to the start/end point. Should have some time relax in camp. If you're staying at my place feel free to leave on Monday.

    Places to camp/stay:
Option #1: Lyman Lake camp ground - nice small free camp. No potable water.

    Option #2: Bonaparte Lake Campground
Larger campground. $12 per night. Water, some sites have power (?) and its next to Bonaparte Lake Resort.

    Option #3:
Some of you fine folks can thow up tents at my place. I've got a yard, a field, water, fridge, fire pit, ticks and @big jer rented a honey bucket for the weekend. I have parking for a few rigs, probably not great for trailers. Tent space might get tight unless folks want to pitch tents in the field.

You'll have to let me know if you want to stay at my place. I'll send out directions to those who want to camp at my home separate from the tracks for the ride.

Tell the salt mine warden that attending our group petrol-therapy session might just increase your production rate when you get back to the mines.

The best dictators always make it feel democratic. : )

I'm sure we'll be able to find a healthy dose of grade A, number 1, blue ribbon Ass-Hattery in June. Looking forward to it!

The bad news: Freckles is probably going to close its doors this winter. The good news: Steve O's pizza and burgers and has great pizza, burgers, fries, malts etc. All the nutrients a growing ADVer needs for a full day of two track hi jinks.

Looking forward to seeing you (and the super bug?) again!

Words like "great" and "event" make me get a little... er...eh... performance anxiety? Should be a couple fun days of riding, eating and telling lies though!

For the guys that rode last year:
I reduced the mileage for the first day from 179 miles to 155 miles. I also changed some of the roads to faster roads/more pavement. Some of the roads from last year will be repeated. I removed the lookout we visited in the afternoon and added a different one that is easier to get to. Sound good?
