Berkshire Big Adventure - Dirt Rider Training Course

You’ve asked and we’ve listened. New for the 2020 Berkshire Big Adventure, is the AMA sanctioned BBA beginner/novice ADV rider training course.

Because this is an add-on to the BBA and will be taught by local riders, we can keep the costs to a minimum. We may not be a professional riding school but we are passionate about elevating an ADV rider skills to meet the BBA Challenges.

We’ll spend the mornings on the property focusing on improving skills with the afternoon riding some of the obstacles and hero sections on the 2020 BBA and Challenge routes.

    · All riders must have AMA membership
    · Membership number must be provided to complete online registration
    · $150 with camping
    · $180 with bunk house

    · Breakfast and lunch and dinner will be provided both days

    · Friday May 15th 8:00AM to 1:00PM on and off site drills and riding

The course is designed to introduce or build on the following skills:

    · Body Position
    · Braking
    · Throttle/Clutch control
    · Traction control: Off camber, rocks and roots
    · Water crossing puddles and moving water

Adv riding requires basic skills such as balance, judgment and a positive attitude. It is strenuous and takes a will to challenge yourself up to and at times past your comfort zone. One of the best ways to successfully do this, is to be in as best shape as possible. A great resource is the SheAdv Get Fit Program.

    Great to hear Doc :D

The team is looking forward to helping riders enjoy more of what the Berkshires have to offer.

FWIW, the tiger is capable, with the right tires, to handle the BBA route and some of the easier challenge sections

There are professional organizations out there but few coincide with an event and they tend to be a bit spendy. Granted BTR has a reputation of high attrition rate but it's more indicative of what land/terrain we can use than a conscious effort to make life miserable...

Our club has spme talented riders that like to help others improve their skills and get more comfortable riding beasts off road. We know most of what we route is pretty hard and we want to help more riders complete the routes.

Worst case we learn a new skill or two and do some bench racing over some local micro brews

Had a chance to ride on the property with the landowners and they put in almost three miles of quad trails with three creek crossings. Fingers crossed it will be dry enough to ride in May.

Riding was a blast, even with the 2-4 inches of snow. What wasn't a blast was the slap in the face that I am far from top riding shape. Legs arms and lungs were fine, but grip strength was a joke. Couple times it was all I could to just to keep my hands on the bars, never mind hold on!

    So, the challenge is on
I challenge you all to a 30 day Power Grip challenge, I did day one this morning.

Checkout the daily challenges and other workouts. It's a fantastic resource
