It also adds passenger volume control, regardless of OS
Installed last night. It was less than a one beer job from start to finish.
Curious how that works. Tap on right shoulder, volume up. Left shoulder, volume down?
Sounds like you need more practice. Any bike maintenance should be a three-beer minimum.
When you can hear your passenger yelling at you, volume up.
haven't figure out when to volume down yet.
Success here as well. Easy install as long as you have a slim enough USB thumb drive. I had to use an extender as I couldn't seat the thicker USB drive into the port without it. Anyone want to buy an iPhone that I no longer need (or want)!
Cool! Any noticeable difference in boot up speed or anything?
The fewer times my wife has to piss me off with yet another shoulder tap to say yet another something annoying, the better.
Does a bluetooth headset have to be on for AA to boot?
No, it doesn't. in fairness, it didn't need to be on the old version either but you had to press and hold the return button for about 5 seconds.
From what I've seen on this upgrade, at least with Android, you just choose the option do not pair and Android auto still comes right up.
No , like for the Carplay you do not need aBT headset .
But android auto is working in another way.
It will ask about a BT headset just tip No , and will work without .
You can check the options of the MID in devenlopre mode aswel.
When mapping or navigating with the Apple CarPlay, can anyone tell me if one can zoom in or out on the map using the switches? I use GaiaGPS (for tracks and trails) and Google Maps (for guided navigation).
Or are the CarPlay functions solely through the touch screen? I noticed that functionality of the touch screen is limited when riding (a safety feature).
Hiya, potential new owner here, and I have a couple questions about the 2020+ update. A couple issues gave me pause previously. Does the updated model now have better heat dissipation / direction away from the rider? A previous thread said there were optional Honda "wings" that could be installed to divert the heat from the rider, but I'm hoping that is now sorted. Also, is the front fender attachment any better, more robust? The previous model seemed to have fragile front fender attachment, that would break at the "brake" attachment point if the fender became packed up with mud. Any better now? Thank You!
I don't know if it's better or worse than prior years as I've only ridden my 2020. I can tell you that I've definitely noticed the heat on it. I haven't installed anything in the way of wind deflectors yet, but the ones I've looked, I assumed, were more aimed at reducing the air flow that seems to land squarely at the shoulders. For me living in Arizona, that's a good thing bad thing. There are times where I'll take all the wind I can get to cool me down.
Can't speak to the fender topic as I've yet to pack it with mud here in Arizona :)
All of the functions that are available in touch are also available with the left switches. You end up just scrolling though all of the available on-screen buttons, including zoom, with the up/down arrows. As you move though all the buttons the controls will sometimes seem “inverted”, up moves down, down moves up. At first it’s hard to remember but it starts to make more sense as you use it.
Anyone have a short cable recommendation, USB C to USB?
Mmmmm, this was not good news. No known fix for the "TFT Touchscreen Unresponsive" problem yet, over on africatwinforum.com:
I write "No Known Fix", because the brief thread (18 replies as of today), indicate a potential solution is to replace the display. But, they are on backorder (likely to fuel the assembly line), and no know delivery date of the part yet.
