I had a "99 also. Loved it. Did the CDR and about a third of the TAT on it. The only thing I really didn't like was the close ratio trans.

I think Kawasaki is going to put lights and make it a dual sport 300r for $5500 and I think it will be a good seller

    I’m still interested.

Would like to know the actual weight and how well the fueling can be tuned with mods.

I say slap on a Tusk DS kit and I’m sure they have a high output stator now to run a good headlight and such. Should make a nice plated trail bike for folks who live where it’s allowed.

Didn’t they close up the gear box ratios on the KLX250 when they shortened it and added all that weight in like ‘08?

I believe they changed 6th so it's less of an overdrive. I have an 06klx 250 with the 351 big bore and I really like how much the rpms drop when shifting into 6th gear.

I would buy this. I am ready to replace my 2009 klx250s with something with similar handling and just a little more power for the highway.

I'm interested in this as well. I'm no race star but I want a full sized trail bike. Not one of those aircooled 230's and not a 10 thousand dollar enduro bike. Options for a middle of the road trail bike are pretty slim it seems.

While your wishing, might as well wish for a DRZ 400 with the DR 350 transmission.

Put a Bill blue 351 big bore kit on your 09 klx and it will have more power for all types of riding.

I have no issues with the drz's transmission; it's not perfect but it is adequate. I am not a big fan of the drz's handling in comparison to the klx. When I ride my brother's drz I just want to get back on my klx.

I raced the 200 at Barber vintage festival. After break in and mounting bark busters. I ran some laps on the hare scramble track and I think it’s going to be pretty good.

I sat on the 300 yesterday...looks good, but it is tallish. I wonder why they didn't keep the seat lower to bring in more customers?
I also wonder why they didn't at least have adjustable compression damping on the forks...I bet some aftermarket guys will provide adjustment kits for it, if it sells well enough.
Huskyfatman... I recently picked up the Honda 450L, and just removing BS plastics and a pipe change got the weight down into the low 270's. It's a good bike, but like so many out there the price is a killer for a lot of people, luckily, I picked up mine at a year-end clearance sale.

It should have compression but it doesn't have rebound, I am thinking it's 1.5" lower then kx250f

I have a drz400e even that is big and bulky compared to my wr250r, thats why Im liking the smaller framed, skinny klx300r

Yep, I gave up and got a plated 2013 KTM 450xcw. Works great for a dirt road/jeep trail bike.

Me too! But notice I have passenger pegs on mine, I do mostly 2-up single track and want something a little more passenger friendly. You're right though these 450/500 KTM's are great bikes, at least the 2016 and prior from what I've read about the 5th gear debacle! 20190920_131653.jpg
