nice pics Larry....almost done prepping up my 701 and XR400....counting the days, weeks and months.

no more difficulty getting the XR400 lithium battery on flame this time...going AGM, little heavier but trust worthy

    Hi Joel
I am going full time working on my DRZ solos to get them ready. I dont know where all the time went but these bikes have been sitting since about 2013. However, since the lockdown and catching up on 2 seasons of "Itchy Boots" on Youtube, there will be no more procrastination. At 69yo next month, I am afraid of getting too old to ride any more.

The yellow bike in the back is the original one I set up for adventure touring by Eddy at Sisneros back in 2013 when Epic was reliable. It is a plated 2000 E with Millenium T BB, Nova wide ratio gears, Sudco FCR39, X2 HID Headlamp and Trailtech Voyager. I didnt think it was wise to take this one apart after it was professionally assembled.

The green bike is a stock 2002 green sticker E. I bought this bike in 2017 to practice (re)assembling a DRZ down to every last nut and bolt so I would know DRZs inside and out, but it has been running well too. So last week I bought a DRZ E complete lower end with a bad rod to experiment on instead.

I also bought a motorcycle hitch carrier for our new F-150 so I can get the green stick out to the desert to practice. Last time I was in the dirt seriously was at a Jimmy Lewis class in 06. I'm planning to take another JL class as soon as he reopens.

The goal of all this is to see the Western USA and Baja on the Adv E. I want to know enough about the bike that I can fix any problem I encounter on the road. As Itchy Boots says, the goal is to go out and see things, not go fast.

    Randy from Wrightwood
PS. Can't believe it has been 9 years since I moved full time to WW from Burbank. BTW I sold all my sidecars except for 1, a 2006 Ural GearUp.... that one's a keeper.

DRZ400s are sweet bikes, it should not take long to get it running. good luck.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news...but, short of a mass distributed vaccine, I'm not so sure the City of Rump is going to allow this. Joel, do u have recent Intel?
We'll see. IF it's a no go, I'm feeling a big ass bike run.......

I think if we're lucky, we are in for more of a mass distributed vaseline.

Number are not looking good anywhere on the charts. Sadly for me this is a case of a little knowledge is a dangerous thing; I assisted a mate (fellow PhD'er) in the development of a pandemic modelling GIS system when I did my PhD, I also spent many years in the military having bio-warfare drills beaten into me so everytime I see the numbers and bad personal practices I cringe.

I will watch how the numbers are going and make a firm decision closer to the date, but I reckon it may just be a sad and lonely solo trip from TX to some New Mexico back country this year
