Brave of you @Gentleman George , I waited for at least my 600 to be done before I ventured out. I maybe old fashioned and think there are all those moving parts in an engine gearbox and tranny to kinda wear in.
Got my recall notice today. I was all ticked off....until I read it. It was the, "Your sticker may come off and then, if you aren't paying attention, you may put the wrong amount of air in your tires." Keeping in mind the bike does tell you how much air is in your tires and when it gets out of spec..... I appreciate they told me my sticker may come off. But did it have to be a re-call? Really?
I have a GREAT dealer that I trust and I asked if I should bring it to them for the run-in service or do it myself. The owner said "Either way; whatever you want to do". I did the oil and final drive change myself.
Gmaps and Waze is superior for doing fastest point A to point B navigation, far better than the legacy GPS manufacturers. Where the Nav V shines for me is custom routes. I travel via backroads, the more back and twisty, the better. As such, I create my routes in Google Mymaps, output KML, suck it into Basecamp, work it over until it matches the Gmaps route, and then output the GPX file to the Nav V. Hopefully BMW designed the integrated Nav to accommodate the loading of GPX files, and not wimp out and just offer Apple carplay Gmaps and Waze. THAT doesn't get me custom routes. And even then, it will still be more of a pain in the ass. Right now, I sit at my comfy computer desk with the Nav V, do my thing, and then lock the Nav V into the bike. With integrated, I'd have to take the laptop to the garage to plug/wifi/bluetooth into the bike to transfer the GPX. More of a pain, but acceptable. If BMW gets rid of the ability to do custom routes, well, that will be a big disincentive to buy a newer BMW.
After five long, arduous months, my dream finally came to fruition. Really couldn't be happier- another excellent life decision! I understand the seemingly exorbitant price tag a little more each ride; a lot of development has occurred since my '09 800
