I've scoured the NET, and can't find much info (except registration info); there seems to be nearly no feedback on Facebook about past events. I haven't seen much about it ANYWHERE. I'm a "novice" dual-sporter due to being 5'8 and riding a XR650. I'm just wondering if I'd have a good time, or regret it.

Any insight to past events would be helpful and appreciated! Thanks!

This ride is a DS ride in that you are using secondary roads to connect enduro style singletrack trails, not just trails. This is tight singletrack. You will be able to ride it on your 650, but it won't be easy. Most of the riders will have bikes 80 pounds lighter than that. I have a 300 XC-W and a DR650 and if I could only bring the 650, I might skip the event. These trails are unfriendly toward 350lb bikes with large gaps in 1-2-3 gears.

    Just my opinion.

Thanks for the honest assessment. I may give it a whirl, but now that I'm more informed, my optimism about making it out has somewhat diminished.

I think I may wait for the March Moto Madness...

    Again, I appreciate the input!

Oh - quick question: is there any REQUIRED gear list (or known requirements)? I've got most stuff, but no chest protector.

Sandlapper is straight up enduro trail.
If you wish, you can stick around and race the race on Sunday!

    You mean WATCH the race?

If my short ass is questioning my ability on a dual-sport ride, what on God's green Earth makes you think I'd be stupid enough to race?

Might see you all there! Question, is an FMF turbine core muffler on a 300 EXC considered quiet enough?

I have the same fmf and that is a USFS approved spark arrestor.
    When in good condition,
yes the sound Db rating passes.

But can fail sound check if its worn out, has been swamped with water or full of 2stroke oil.
or just needs repacking in general.

Thanks, it's fairly new and not to loud until it's let loose which isn't to often with me on there. It's been a long time since I've had a proper dirtbike so I'm still in the getting re-acquainted stage.

Woohoo...this is a great event. The trails aren't too difficult, but they can get tight. I run it on an old XR400. I've never seen them enforce noise, but in years past they have checked for spark arresters. They've also had state troopers checking tags. A few from GA with plates on their chest protectors had some 'splainin' to do. I hope to see y'all there. :beer
