Let’s try this again..last year, like most everything else is now mostly in the rear view mirror. Vaccines are finding arms, positivity rates are falling, attitudes are improving, and the weather should be blue sky/sunshine.

We have this year’s BMW NorCAL 49er penciled in..the fairgrounds are on board, speakers are outstanding, food is getting set up, and there is plenty of space for everyone to spread out.

This won’t be a full on event like past 49ers. Think of this as a first step to get back in the saddle. Not as many vendors, activities, etc. Just a special get together for a special event with a long tradition through good years and some not-so-good.

Yes, there will be a social Bier Garten, lots of presentations about rides all over the world…and an emphasis on increasing the prizes for more than one Poker Run to get people out for a ride.

We should think of the 2021 49er as a “soft opening” after over a year of no Club rides, last year’s cancellation of the 49er and Range of Light Gypsy Tour. We will have a controlled event with limited attendance, good food, great riding, good friends, great speakers, and a chance to actually get out a ride again.

    More to come.

I found nothing on the NoCalBMW web page regarding the rally. Is registration open yet?

Dumb question. Do I need to own a beemer to attend? I could draw the BMW logo on my Super Tenere with a sharpie...

Not an issue - Lots of different bike makes show up for this event. You will end up joining the NorCal BMW club as part of the entrance fee.

Send me an email and I'll put you in touch with the Rally Food guy - Fred

The Grapplers aren't doing breakfast or lunch this year so yes, I need more food vendors.

We're planning on around 300 max...figure 100-200 mouths to feed for breakfast and lunch for Friday, Sat. and Sunday. They have a full kitchen available..just need people and supplies.

That doesn't mean he can't do lunch for a couple of days. Say Sat and Sun?

We're keeping the post-300 signups on a list with the hope that we can open up that number in mid-May IF conditions allow. So I'm running 2 budgets..pessimistic and optimistic ...both with the idea of having fun.
