    It seems so.

It could be that other KTM riders are finding the new platform not quite polished yet, and Walkner is the control group.
Looking at live times the other day, it also seemed to me that K.Benavides was faster than T.Price and S.Sunderland, this being his first KTM bike.

Barreda missed three waypoints, by the way. :baldy

Maybe, but this platform was ready for the last Dakar, but because of the lack of real world race testing they decided not to run it (if I remember it correctly), I know race testing is the real testing but I thought it should be pretty polished with KTMs gained knowledge over the years and having the platform ready to race for a year at least.

      1. 07:22 Stage 4: A mix of old and new

Like the day before, there’s no major sand sections on the menu of this fourth stage - the calm before the last stage storm! While there will be a few small ergs to cross, David Castera's team were more focused on linking new tracks with the historic Dakar pistes of times gone by. This will especially be the case for last fifty kilometres of the track to Foum Zguid. As for the day before, navigation will play a central role in today's result. For the second and last time on the race the FIM RallyGP and FIA Auto categories will have a slightly longer route, this time at the finish of the special stage.
    1. 11:04 Quintanilla back in the game: Pablo Quintanilla virtually takes the lead on the overall. He closed a 15 minutes gap with Brabec in the stage. Brabec is now riding 3rd on the virtual overall (at 4’41”). Matthias Walkner is 2nd 1’37” behind Quintanilla.

    LEG FOUR Ozi observations:

Chucky Sanders is having a good day on the GasGas, he's been climbing steadily up todays leader scoreboard all stage.

Toby is making better progress today also - figuring in the top ten again... after a dismal 29th place on the stage yesterday (SS3)

Today the SS is a bit shorter for Rallye 2 and Enduro Cup, 337 km instead of 367

Maybe the future for bikes is going to be electronic road book and a remote troller .
It's being used in cars and nobody gets any sort of advantage.
    Makes sense I suppose

    R.Branch bike.
I wonder what caused this. He had issues with the chain on the Yamaha in the Dakar.

Two minutes seperated 1st (Quint) and 2nd (Mathias)... only five and half to 3rd (Chucky)... a very competitive podium fight.

In the 'if only ... ' category, quite a few riders came very close to winning.
From what could be gathered in the two minutes stage summaries and Instagram snaps, it was a solid race by nearly all elite riders. Mercifully, no one was badly injured this year.

    More definite final result:
