The micro fiche list doesn't support that conclusion - there is a 2021 790 (same engine as the 2020 R and the 2020 Rally), so it must be Euro5 compliant or they couldn't sell it still, right? Or is it grandfathered in if there are no changes from previous model year?

The MCN article says that rally mode is optional on the R, but cruise control is standard on the R and the Rally. Huh?

"The chassis has had some minor updates, including a new steel subframe and aluminium steerer – both in an effort to offset the weight gains of Euro 5. It’s obviously helped but not quite enough as the new bikes’ dry weights are 7kg higher than the old model."

I bet there's no a "S" version because that place is gonna be filled with the Norden 901, wich is mounting shorter suspension.

I actually just texted that to my homie with a 950se that I was out with this weekend.

“But thanks ktm, for making the 790advr worthy of the same cult stays as the SE now!!”

Birch also confirmed it via his instafeed. He says the 890 is an easier bike to ride, too, but I’m sure that’s I’m reference to the bottom end boost, and flywheel effect.

Bet a exhaust swap gets you right back to 790R weights.

EURO5 is no joke ridiculous. The current 2020 S1000RR and Ducati V4S have a exhaust system that's closing in on ~30lbs with a massive bedpan.

I think the 890 will be a better mouse trap than the 790....I know it is easy to think our 790s didn't get knocked down a peg but....

torque is always the right answer....

You could look at it as they are trying to make more room below the current bike for a 2 cylinder 500cc Adventure.

Plonk, my only 3 months old limited edition 790 Rally just lost 20% of it's value by the announcement that they are going to make another 700 pcs of a 890 Rally version. Thank you KTM.
And in 2021 they will dump another 3000 "limited editions" on the market or what? Getting a bit sick of this Apple style marketing with ultra short product lifecycles.

Anyhow, my farkled 790RR is great fun and I will keep it. But as Nowwhat says, torque is always nice to have... there could be a (small) market for an engine upgrade kit.

Nope. XACT is the AER spring fork (air fork) and XACT PRO is AER combined with cone valves. The XPLOR PRO is still the suspension on the Rally...
