I've ridden the latest gsxr1000r with the full quick shifting. Unbelievable gear box, smoothest I've ever sampled. amazing

I got my ex's unrestricted gen 1 to a gps 316km/h on a closed course. It just gets noisier and jigglier from 250 on

Just love an analog-ish looking gauge cluster. Just like I love my mechanical watches... not superior, but way more pleasing to me. Always wanted one of these things: How was it to live with on a day to day basis? [IMG]

How was it ti live with? Pretty nice.
There are a few caveats though:
-Mine was quite hot in traffic, annoyingly so.

-The stock ergos are just OK. A set of 1" drop pegs and some helibars was all it took to made it all week comfortable though. Took a 2000mi road trip on mine and it was absolutely sublime.

-The bike is so blindingly fast that it no longer is an issue of "can I make this pass" but it becomes "should I make this pass?". Got a semi with 4 cars stuck behind it blocking your way? No problem, you can tear around them like they all stopped and you'll be touching 150 by the time you get back into your own lane (not exaggerating!). Riding a bike that is SO powerful becomes a constant exercise in self restraint. Even just rolling on the throttle in 6th to pass a car or two will have you running 100, without even downshifting; the bike is SO torquey! That engine is just phenomenal!

All-in-all though, I didn't find mine hard to live with in the slightest. It was an amazing machine that was smooth, comfortable, powerful and even returned pretty decent mpg (got low 50's on the road and averaged high 40s day to day on mine).

All this, although the front brakes were pretty ordinary, and the ergos really annoyed me after a while. The brakes were better on later models, though.

From here the frame looks the same as does the tank....
Some new plastic, and a monstrous exhaust which almost looks photoshopped on.
I think my anticipation is disappearing...

:deal Ok here’s the list’o needs for current bike tech...

    IMU electronic suite
    Traction control
    Power modes
    Slipper clutch
    Launch control
    Quick shifter
    Riding modes
    Cornering ABS
    E suspension
    E steering damper
    Cruise
    Led throughout
    Heated grips
    Heated seat
    Bluetooth connectivity
    Fob key
    12-volt DC socket
    USB accessory

Obviously there’s no TFT, Let’s see which ones make the cut, I’ll say at least half the list makes it

[the new V-strom has a lot of the stuff on the list already incorporated]
