Deposit placed on a 2021 1250 GS Rally w/premium and sport suspension. Production date was 10/6/20 and current status is “In Transit To Vpc.” Hoping for delivery before Thanksgiving but no guarantees. Cant wait!

2021 1250 GS Triple Black w/ Premium, lowered suspension, and black spoked wheels ordered. Unfortunately mine has not been manufactured yet and probably won't arrive until December.

Me: Maybe I'll swing by the dealer to inquire about the 2021's

Also me: Sees a new 2021 half assembled just out of the crate today

Also also me: Texting friends hoping they will justify my desire to purchase

Also also also me: Signing paperwork 30 mins later

Also also also also me: Did not tell wife until I got home. LOL

They only had 1 of the BMW hard cases so I had to order the other one, something about me bringing it back so they can do the locks too. I did a bunch of research here and elsewhere and this one has everything I wanted on it and then some. I didn't want to run home to get my trailer so it's being delivered tomorrow and nice weather this weekend and next week so....I'll be out and about.

Anyone have any tips? Never had one of these before and in speaking with service department, seems like maintenance will be surprisingly less than on my other Ducati.

Final note: I felt like I was 8 years old looking at it and taking pics, been lusting after this bike for a number of years now. My original plan was to wait until Feb or March, oh well.

I’m trying to understand the “bad thing” you did. It all seems quite reasonable to me, especially not telling the wife. :lol3Nicely done!

Here is how this went with the wife.

    Her: where were you

    Me: I bought a motorcycle

Her: What? I thought we were buying BMW's together

Me: Well, I got mine early, we can still get yours

Her: Ok, got any pics (that's when I knew I was good to go)

haha. Been married 20 years, she knows what's up.

    Questions:

    - Where is the best place to buy the Garmin device that goes into the holder?
    - Best tank bag (I've had good experience with Wolf) that isn't too bulky

    Thanks in advance everyone.

you have 3 basic choices, the Navigator 4, 5, or 6.

they all come up used here on the forum.

The oldest, the 4, has smaller memory and a more kludgy input for destinations. If you’re okay with spending a few more minutes inputting data, and you don’t care if you have WonderWheel control or additional bike data access, this is the cheap way in.

the 5 has a better/easier input system, and will work with the wonderwheel. That gives you other screen options like various bike data, a compass, audio control etc.

the 6 (which I have no experience with) is an updated 5 with a glossier screen and I have no idea what new bells and whistles.

I have both the 4 & 5. The 5 is obviously better. The 5’s come up in the Flea Market with price ranges (used) ~ $300-400, usually $350-375.

if you buy a used unit make sure the seller has unlocked it before shipping. And get an aftermarket hood for it as you’ll want to cut the glare off the screen.

Congrats! I’m looking at a triple black. Didn’t realize dealers are now charging $600 prep fees with nothing less than MSRP.

I didn't get charged Prep and the dealer knocked $400 off of MSRP for me. Not huge but something. I dunno

Triple black would be sick, hope you get it.

Seems like you did great on the price! Saved about $1k on a bike with limited availability.

Maybe it was end of month, right time right place and I was super cool / chill. Who knows. I told the dude look here man, I've owned 12 bikes over the years and I've done this dance over and over. I know you have margins and want to make your money, I get it. If you can't move on the bike maybe a discount at the parts counter because I need some gear.

I got the $400 off MSRP and then the parts counter still gave me 15% off some gear. Really nice folks and I support a local business doing their thing, I get it and even if I paid a few bucks more I will be going back over and over again for whatever so I'm cool with it.

Very jealous. Probably won’t get mine until December. Was hoping to get a couple rides in before Winter. Maybe I’ll just blast the heated grips and seat :p

    Congrats on new bike!
I noticed this bike has the bling covers option. I've not seen these in person yet.
    grab590.jpg
..for anyone in the ADVRIDER BMW crowd here, how do these covers hold up with their textured surface against dirt, stone pecking and general crap that gets thrown up against them? Every LC I've had (even pre-LC) has the clutch cover looking like discolored, stained s&@t after 10-20k miles despite my efforts to keep it clean. I gotta think the textured surface is even more of an attractant.
