Heading off to their starting point
Damn, I can already smell the pre-mix burning....mmm
Better put some shit on the front end, or the front wheel may not be on the ground much, ha ha
This is awesome. The shit we spend money and time on is so indefensible, but I can't imagine having more fun.
I'll bet the rear tires don't last long....
I bet the piston doesn't last long either.
Why would you think that?
I ran 2-Strokes in the '60's and '70's.
A built 500 MX lasting for 2K+ miles... I dunno.
A lot has happend with alloys, water cooling, and oil technology since the 60's dude! 2 stroke water cooled jetskis last well over 100 hours these days.
60s and 70s... valid point.
What if I told you my 86 CR500 has the OEM top-end?
And more than 2000 miles on it.
No issue on the top ends lasting... 2k is a cinch for a big bore 2T..
Especially for the overdrive 5th gears in these machines.
They will be lugging them most of the time.
Back tires gotta be toast but we'll see...
As others have said, materials, bore finishes, ring durability, oils, etc have changed dramatically since then. 2 stroke snowmobiles can go 10,000 miles. Some guys go 150-200 hrs on 250cc bikes ridden in easy engine conditions (like doing single track at a sow pace).
If they average 30 mph then 2K is only about 67 hours.
Ok... Very, very, very long story short there is a huge change of plans...
I'll let Alex give you the sordid details when he returns.
For now... Just enjoy the pics
Yep... a old part failed... Thank goodness they had a extra
That's cruising in style
A nice little OHV loop..
Here we go! Have fun and be safe!
