Hello all, long time listener, first time caller. I recently spent two weeks discovering the West, riding from Chicago to the South Dakota Badlands & Black Hills before heading to Wyoming and Colorado. I covered a total of 2811 miles, across 8 states. with a 511 mile day as a personal best for daily distance traveled. You don't need to have a GS1200 to have a fun, competent dual sport platform in a 250cc scooter package. Enjoy the pictures!

Sweet accomplishment. Mostly doing it solo it appears? You covered much of my favorite area on your ride. Endless open areas with some of the very best gravel roads. Sooo much nicer than the crumbly loose marbles found in the Rockies etc.

That Ruckus looks more comfortable than most of the big ADV bikes! Like sitting in a chair.

Did the entire ride solo. Great dirt and light gravel roads, especially in Badlands. Nebraska also had some fun dirt trails at Swanson Lake State Recreation Area. Fast ride from Denver to Lincoln, NE at 70+ mph the entire way, briefly hit 80!

This was very roughly the route (for example missing Sioux Falls, SD), Google Maps limits the number of points you can enter. It leaves off a couple minor points, day trips, dirt road excursions, unplanned detours, wrong turns, city wandering, trips to the store, night ride, etc.

If my wife reads this the first thing she is going to say is "Why do you want a new Tenere?"...

@SpectreNCSU have you researched the "northern route" that member NorthernTraveler created? Highly recommended.

That tire could have gone at least another 100 miles.

Well yeah, but I had a 400 mile day to get home and I figured its easier to do it at a hotel then on the side of the road.

I have not. I definitely want to go back to SD again, and this time I will turn north. Much more interesting things to see in Montana and North Dakota then Nebraska and Iowa, I wager.

Y'all will like the trip I am planning for next year. I will ride up from Boston, take the ferry to Newfoundland and ride across to St. John's, end up in St. Pierre and Miquelon, the last French territories in North America (passport required). Then I would ride across NF before heading to Prince Edward Island, Les Iles de la Madeline, and back to Boston.

Nice PS. Hoping you upped the suspension for the load because mine was set up for a much smaller man than myself.
