    What a kick ass weekend!
I'll sort through the pics and post them tonight.
I had my first flat tire on this trip. I was in the middle of Titus Canyon when it happened.
Good thing BigJohnBundy (the Sultan of Spam) was there to lend a hand and some tools. Dude, I owe you my first born.
Note, my first born will be returning from Iraq soon and I gave him your address so he has a place to stay :rofl

Thank you to those who put it all together and also for the unofficial memorabilia that I can not confirm or deny the existence of.:thumb

It was good to see all you FF's and I'm already looking forward to the next one.

    RR coming soon.

since smug is still down, let me bore you with words.....:lol3

the weather was just perfect in the 3 days many of us were there. mid 60s in the daytime and in the 50s at night. the wet or damp dirt we're expecting is pretty much gone, except in some places in the canyons and higher elevations. this nOOb ate a lot of dust and dirt on one occasion...:D

lots of riders showed up, and let me see if i can remember everyone... 8)h (me), traveltoad, trailtrick, rsc450, sito, dsm8, rider914, hugo, dannyg, amit, rebarman, itsatdm, eggroll, stu_fl, broken spoke, the austrian, gratis, jab, jason, spafxer, wotevah, galacticgs, vern, bic, 60z, yzlvr, nowwhat, terranova, klrwoody, bigjohnbundy, natethenOOb, joefromsf, purelick, rhinoeater and riverrat. all of the guys on the camping list showed up except for 1 whom i trustingly reserved a campsite...:baldy , don't worry....1 incident won't ruin my trust to you FFs

i appreciate all the kind words for organizing the event and for handling the 2 nights of meal deal. sorry the chili didn't get served sat night cuz the event planner was wondering in another planet....:lol3

there were like 15 FFs in the meal deal and you guys ate :dg a total of 44 pieces :eek1 of foot long hotdogs...:fyyff , hell yeah, i was planning to bring home the rest and have it for my lunch this week, and all i got are slices of cold spam..thanks bigjohn..:dizave

lucky bastards...not only got a good deal on the camp site and meal, they also brought home a nice memoriblia of a drinking glass with the commemorative design....don't dare post a pic :lol3 ...cuz you will be banned...:ban

This trip was a blast! Met up with DannyG and Amit in the valley for the ride up. Got to Panamint around 6:00 on Friday.

For Saturday it was myself, DannyG, Amit, and Whotevah (LC) We left Panamint and headed for Dante's View.

From there we headed to Furnace Creek Wash Rd through Greenwater.

    Freeway:evil
    [IMG]

We then came across an offshoot that led to some mines. DannyG assured us that it would still be wide and grated, and it was for awhile :huh

Then it turned into a tight up hill two track with lots of whoops and loose rocks and gravel. :eek1

taking a break after the carnage.

No photos of the downed bikes, but here's one of some unusual markings in the dirt :deal

I believe Amit has some video of this one...

The guys coming down the trail

We then headed down Furnace Creek Wash rd to the 178, then looped back up through furnace creek and home. 260 miles total, 40 in the dirt.

    On the way home:
Gotta learn how to pack lighter for only two days of camping....

Thanks again Joel, for putting together a great one :thumb

    I'll be back for sure!

What a weekend. Got home around 1:00 today and got a doctor appt for 4:30. I had a 30 mph getoff on Friday that dinged my shoulder pretty good and I was hurting the rest of the weekend though lots of Ibuprofin got me thru the days and some friend's Vicodin got me thru the nights. Doc says its just soft tissue damage, now I'm waiting for walgreens to fill my Rx for my own Vicadin.

I'll post my ride report later. Not sure if will be titled "Beware the n00bs of March" or "No good deed will go unpunished". :lol3

After arriving at camp and pulling all my stuff off the bike JAB and Jason arrived. BigJohnBundy and KLRWoody were kind enough to wait, so we headed off towards Titus Canyon.

I did say that we headed toward Titus Canyon. First Jason''s cllutch cable just seized, ok, it was a bit old but it just seized.:huh JAB got it going with a zip tie, some motor oil and a little gas. While the repair was going on(before we had properly diagnosed the problem) I caught up with BigJohnBundy and KLRWoody and told them to continue on without us. Once we got Jason going again we zoomed off. Maybe a little too much "zoom". A couple miles later, A nail in the rear tire lead to a very exciting blow out. :eek1 JAB was right behind me so he can better say what it looked like.

So... I patched the tube (1:15min) 10 miles later the patch decided it didn't want to hold so I replaced it with a 21in tube (45min). When I got back to camp I decided to pull out the 21 and install a new 18in tube (25min). Are you seeing a trend here?

Friday happened very fast. We arrived and I barely have time to set up half the tent that a group ride has already formed for Chloride and Titus. So I throw the gear on, forget the water and advil I was gonna take and go.

Don't have any pics from Chloride because it was rather demanding and happened kind of in a blur. Maybe someone else has pics. It was a lot of fun, and I would like to thank Sito and DSM8 who ran sweep on this one (mostly after me), I do appreciate your patience and has made for a very enjoyable experience for me that I will remember for some time to come.

Then Titus, when a sip of DSM8's gatorade reminded me that hydration is useful, and also that I do have a camera.

The long arm of the law:

Here I stopped to ponder if I can actually make it downhill upright.

I do think the 5,000 mile Distanzias are approaching the end of their useful life though. Although adorned with many cuts, none penetrated deep enough to reach the tubes, thankfully, I was thusly spared of finding out just how hard it is to take tires off those wide rims.

Then as I climb a rock to scout the road I find the troop was resting not very far from my location, I gain some courage and roll downhill.

    The welcome committee:

The way out of Titus includes more deep gravel over which my big fat tires float like a boat and follow every rut they can find.
