I am trying to get into the Doc Wong class for this week. Haven't heard back yet about whether I am in or not. Hope so.

I have never ridden at Clear Creek so I am ignorant about it in terms of the riding, but I do know that the dirt in that area contains asbestos. I rode past the area last fall and there were signs up indicating the risk. Anyone who knows something about the area care to comment? Is this a real problem or just a theoretical risk? Thanks.

Kirk if you go there you are IN,,,,I never see anybody denied enter

come on this is California,,,PC capital of the world not to mension full of "Scary cats" aparentlly (from what I understand)the kind of asbestos present on that park is a none volatile kind and the fibres are way to long to present any kind of harm ,one thing I can tell you the place is trully amazing very soft transitions with a million jumps and berms personally I love it....

now you choice is little Orange or Big Grey:huh

This is off the Bureau of land management Clear Creek,
You can find out the concentration of asbestos in the outdoor air at CCMA by calling the Clear Creek Hotline at (831) 630-5060

. You will hear the latest recorded information about the airborne asbestos concentrations and weather conditions, or check click here. If you would like clarification about the meaning of the asbestos reading, call the Hollister Office of the Bureau of Land Management at (831) 630-5000.

Precautions to take when visiting CCMA

<Avoid areas where it is dusty or windy.
<Never drink the water from the streams or springs.
<Wash any vehicle that has been used at CCMA before returning home.
<Wash clothing worn at CCMA separately from you other clothes.
<If digging in dry dirt, try to minimize the amount of dust that is distributed.
<Do not ride Off Highway Vehicles (OHVs) around the campground. They create dust.
<If riding an OHV in a group, spread out along the trail, and don't ride in another rider's dust.

    Thanks Ricky.

Here is the link re info on asbestos at Clear Creek. Since it is not the dry/dusty season, the risk is probably minimal. But you don't want to breath any of this stuff into your lungs. Trust me.

Don't know if I can go to Clear Creek, but if I can...little orange all the way if there a way to get it down there. I am much more fearless on the little bike than on the big'n.

I hope all who went today had fun. I really enjoyed the last one. I'm a slave to Little League so I have to be very creative these days to break away. I'm hoping to do the ride to Clear Creek next weekend.

    Anyone else going. :ear

No, Ricky, I was not shy.

I was thinking 'Whaaaat... Drills.... Again.. NOOOOOO'

I'm going for my solo ride to Yellowstone, so Ricky suggested that I would go to all these durt clinics, he thinks that I can not ride nor drive :evil

But you know it does feel better and more confident after all.

    So thank you Ricky!

And of course a lot of thanks to Doc Wong!
