Muley Point, Mokie Dugway, Valley of the Gods...
Thanks again to everyone that participated in the Rendezvous!! It was a Great success!!
I wanted to throw out an idea to everybody:
We are thinking about doing another Rendezvous in August, the 23rd-27th. This Rendezvous would focus on all the higher country that we have here close by! There is single track on the Abajo’s, the LaSal’s, lots of 2 track riding at higher elevations, like the San Juan NF right across the border in CO. just to name a couple of places........
Average high temps here in August is 84. This Rendezvous will try to keep everyone above 6,000 ft. 3 Step Hideaway elevation is 6400ft.........Moab is 4000ft, their average high is 98 in August........these tracks will stay well above those Hot temps and Hustle & Bustle of Moab!
Please let us know if you or anybody you know would be interested in this! If there is interest we will do it!!
Scott & Julie
definitely interested...possibly my son as well.
I'll be needing to ride around in Utah about that time. So, I'm very interested.
I need to be at Toole for Labor Day, then heading into Colorado and Denver. Hit Westfest on the way back toward the left coast.
Big bike, forest roads riding for this old fart.
I think I'm about recovered so back to training soon!
Great idea, I will put it on my calendar right now!
A few more photos of the spectacular Valley of the Gods...
Is that Janet in the first picture? Why does she have only one of the soft cases attached. Lost one? Bartered it for beer? (a good choice)
Janet runs only one Mosko Moto bag...less wind resistance!
PS - remember, Janet sez- Memory Foam mattresses kill you love life!
Great pics everyone!!
She said she was taking just enough tools and medical supplies to ensure none of us old guys were left behind...
Late August High country is something to consider. Will give the idea serious thought and spread the word here in San Diego.
I had a great time sharing 5 nights at your Moto Ranch in April; great dinner and breakfast, hot showers, nice facilities and great people.
Will work on the date.
Thanks for the responses guys!!!
Please plan on August 23-27 for the 1st Annual 3 Step Hideaway Alpine Rendezvous
Stay tuned for more details!
I've got added to my calendar.
Got hall pass in hand.
I will begin the bike prep in about a month. After I finish some family projects.
I figure to leave the left coast the 20th or so and head into the face of the heat. Run around and try not to get too lost and end up at 3 Step Hideaway.
From there head into the high country of Colorado for a while, wander back to Utah for the vintage and sidecar races, then back into the Colorado Rockies and aim toward Denver.
Eventually turning tail and heading back west with a buddy for Westfest, then blue highways home.
I figure I'll get back to the beach about the 19th or so. Depends on how hot it gets and how successful I am at finding that mythical five calendar cafe.
Now, I need to get back to chores, and planning out chores.
Order tires, do some maintenance. Sort the last bit of gear. Figure out if I have the GPS tracks and waypoints loaded.

Scott & others in this thread,
I'm planning a trip to Alpine Loop in Colorado first or second week of August. Our group ( 3-4 ) will plan to start and end from 3 Step Hideaway.
Could I get GPS track of the areas directly East of 3 Step?
Our destination for the first day is Ames, CO.
Could you recommend a trail, track, or route that would be a pleasant one day ride from 3 Step to get to Ames?
We will be on WR250's and DRZ's, and would prefer a scenic dirt trail, or mountain route to get to Ames rather than slab along Hwy 90 to Hwy 145.
Thanks in advance!
Expect a call from my buddy Matt to set up a reservation soon, he's handling all the reservations & Booking, I'm handling the route.
Email is sent.
I'll there on my 990. Riding cadillac dirt. This will be at the front end of about a month on two wheels.
Should be a time.
I second this...also planning a trip for this fall starting from 3 Step and heading easterly towards Telluride area and would appreciate any good dirt tracks of this area.
I've got a rough route in mind that takes us into Dunton.
We could shoot some ideas back and forth or I'll share any tracks that I find useful.
When are you riding?
Not sure yet...timeframe is not set yet but thinking sometime this fall...September or early October likely. Just coming up with ideas at this point but was hoping to hear of some stuff people here have already ridden/checked out. Plan is loosely to ride the Rimrocker Trail across and end up at 3 Step and then a different dirt route back to Telluride/Naturita area the second day.
Jsneeb and NMTrailboss,
