DAY 1 OFFROAD
So it was raining all night again. :dog
Just before the start w receive the GPS. On the GPS we have the track and waypoints with fuel, no checkpoints.
There was a "hotel start" and a liason to the offroad start.
Completly no idea what to expect.:eek1
While we race Tomek 89 is going with the bus to the service point. Each day there is one service point with an obligatory 20 min pause.
Immediatly after the offroad start there is a huge muddy mountain to climb. As we are almost the last to start there is more then 200 riders before us. When I arrive to the hill it looks like there was a little war there. Mudd, rocks and roots and a lot of riders stuck on the hill.
Its only 10 min the race started and my 200 is boiling like crazy, I m boiling too and completly exhausted. It takes me 2 hours to get to the first chkp. Mirek is fighting on his 400 for 6 hours to get to the chkp 1.
Here I will post some romaniacs photo cos no time and power to make on the race.
My bike boiling all the time. Finally I get to a river and I can add water to the radiator.
While riding I destroy my gps just when I m on the top of the mountain covered with fog. I m lost for 30 min but finally find the tracks and ktm signs. I also loose my engine guard. Finally after next 2 hours I arrive to the 2 chkp. Take fuel and fill radiator with water. Next there is a huge hill covered with mudd. I m able to make like 3/4 with speed and next there is a fight for every meter. We are both boiling and need to cool down every few meters. No GPS but the track is easy to navigate.
Slowly fighting for every meter. At some point I arrive to a big rock on a narrow track up hill. I want to jump over it but everything goes wrong.
I lift the front and hit the rock with my exhaust. The hit is big and it moves the exhaust back and it makes a hole in the radiator line / tube. The boiling water immediatly runs out of the radiator system.
First I think its over but then I try to think more positive. the hole in the tube is just near the connection, so I move the tube 5mm lower. I still have some water in the camelbak but just a little. But then I fill I need to pee so I use the priceless golden liquid and pee to my drink bottle and add it to the radiator.
I can tell you there is nothing better then the smell of boiling pee in the morning. It smells like victory.
