Saturday morning I woke early, rolled over and went back to sleep. Nobody really wants breakfast before the sun is up. :imaposer

When I did get up I assembled the kitchen and got to work making my usual camping breakfast, instant oatmeal and coffee.

We were riding Ash Meadows and maybe more if we held a pace.
We didn't hold the pace. We were leisurely. Which for some of us is a nice pace. :D

We headed to Devil's Hole first. Stopped at the parking area to review the signs.

I took this opportunity to grab a glamour shot of the 990R,:lol3

Then it was down the road a touch to the layby to hike over to view the actual hole.
I take it by the protection erected around the area these puffer fish are vicious creatures, but are thankfully not far ranging.
Thanks to the protection and possibly this being closer to mid-day we were all able to view the hole safely.

Am I the only one who had visions of "Jurassic Park" when walking down this tunnel? :yikes

The "Devil's Hole" if you're into that sort of thing,

We headed out past the visitor's center to another spring. Fun road out there. Riding sweep meant I got to lay back out of the dust and let the group get over the next hill or around the next bend and I was alone. :clap Very nice.
Slowing down a bit I could look around and enjoy the countryside I was riding through. Which for me is why I ride.
Now this spring, the name of which escapes me was pretty. Right near where we parked, but we thought there might be something more to see down a two-track so we all walked down there to the edge a marshy/reeded in water crossing. There were two fat tire tracks that disappeared into this jungle and I did not see them emerging.
Now, I didn't look real hard either.

    The spring,
    [IMG]

    Closer look,
    [IMG]

We walked back to the bikes and cooled off a bit after a heated hike in the sun.
Then back to an outlaw's cabin and cold spring.

The sign for this was written in rhyme. The gunslinger, outlaw had killed five people, then hid out here in a cabin he built.
By the looks of the cabin rockwork he could have turned an honest hand to that trade rather than being quick on the draw.
I imagine masons have a bit more relaxed lifestyle than gunslingers.

From here we headed for the visitor center for shade and restrooms. I bought a couple of bottles of very cold water the water fountains being out of order. and enjoyed my Clif Bar.

I also grabbed a quick selfie with my bike,
    [IMG]

From here we determined we'd held a relaxed enough pace to make riding out to Titus Canyon a tiring exercise that would quite possibly result in our being late for dinner. This we as a group could not abide so took the road back to camp to avoid such a calamity.

I took the opportunity of an early arrival to grab a refreshing shower then we were all ushered over to the ring for dinner.
I resolved to load my plate once only and skipped the dessert tray. All of the offerings looked very tempting and it took all my resolve to maintain my promise to myself.
There were brownies though was the thought that kept eating at my very foundations. :lol3

    Dinner,
    [IMG]

I believe we have an infestation of varmints who have taken to swiping our food when we are distracted. I looked up and then back at my plate and something was definitely wrong here,
    [IMG]
It is clearly visible where the little miscreant licked the plate clean. :imaposer
Next year I'll bring traps. :jack

Then it was on to the raffle.
    And I won stuff!:clap

A Sena neck tube thingy and a 20 L dry bag. Both would come in handy later.

I walked over to the Albertsons after the festivities to get water for breakfast, an evening coffee and light snack for later. That varmint had gotten away with the bulk of my meal.

I must have drifted off because the next thing I knew it was morning again.

Having just returned from Pahrump '17 I gotta say it was a very well organized and friendly event. This comes from hard work and love for the sport. To Joel, and the hard working volunteers I say,, THANK YOU

To Bonnie, you have great monetary skills! Great job with the flea market

Many thanks to the inmates who gave a casual wave or who had a friendly hello for me.

To Kim and Julie, thanks for taking an interest and 'tackling' Taco. This was his first trip from the shelter.

HAHAHA well the trail is worse this year than last. Which you said was worse than the year before. So I'm sure by 2018 this trail would've been reclaimed by nature

these guys are amazing. i offered to pay a down payment, but they told me "eat first and if you like it, then pay us the full amount".......:clap

and of course, the equation won't be complete without the volunteers. thanks guys and lady.
