The stretch south of Mazocahui on MX 14 to Puerta del Sol is a great ride. From there to Ures is pretty flat.

What are you riding and where are you staying? I might do that ride.

I'll bring the old GSA1200, staying somewhere Tom setup I think. He said bring my sleeping bag but probably wont need it.
I'm sure you will have a place to sleep. I can always crash out back by the pool @ Los Arco's, I'm not to picky.
I can pick you up in Alb on my way thru on Thursday probably staying Thursday night in Lordsburg and crossing the border in the morning due to the long drive down from CO.

Might be proper for some of us to ride out to La Mora and take some flowers or ? to show them there low is felt
    by many .
It's a big ride from Los Arcos and back 600k's . But a very beautiful ride .
I'm open to discuss this at the meet up .

Isn’t La Mora pretty much on your back country route from AP? I bet that area will be crawling with federales and troops right now. I wonder how the crossing will be at AP. I plan to cross Friday but may switch to Naco. Let us know how it looks when you cross on Thursday.

The after effects of the killings in Bavispe are increased police and military checkpoints. As of today, Tuesday, my friends in Bisbee are hearing that checkpoints are the intersection of Mex 2 and the Naco road. Waiting FP reports from Agua Prieta but likely the same.
What this means to you as a traveler is you will be stopped and asked at the least. where you are coming from (de donde va?) and where you are going (a donde va?) A cursory check of your bike may happen.
Flip up your visor, open your helmet if you can, take off your sunglasses, smile, be friendly.
I'm sending out an email to all participants today and will include this info

    Thanks

I think Agua Prieta and routes south will already have an intensified police presence .
Tom has emailed us about this . Like he says expect check points and be polite .
I posted pics on IMS of the area around La Mora . I've been through there a half a dozen times .

Well since the censors have banned me from replying in IMS despite many likes and without any other info on how long or for what reason ( sounds like the present administrations tactics ) and without any mods identity !
Hopefully I'll still be able to update you guys on the conditions from AP down to Banamichi .
Seems to be OK to link to Brightbart and Fox false news but arguments countering that get sanctioned !

Above is a given, especially after only one suspect has been apprehended they'll be scouring for the rest.

I had planned to pop in Saturday on my way to Puerto Peñasco but this tragedy has me changing my route. Only concerned because I would have been riding dirty without FMM or TVIP. Not worth the chance now with added checkpoints and scrutiny in the area.

3 weeks post op and I've got a clean bill of health but can't do a moto ride yet.
And still following the threads, best to all.
Living in Utah, the Cartel violence has gotten huge coverage with the historical connection to the LDS Church.
It seems very obvious to me that this was a message sent by those Cartels.
I hope it does not impact your area and I think you are a positive force in your community.
I've got a buddy in Mulege who is a similar advocate for his adopted community.
Ride on, those of you who can. I'm out of the game temporarily but still itching to ride to the Banamichi Meetup.

No major security presence crossing at Nogales, all is normal.
    Same at Naco.
No report from Agua Prieta. Expect some police and military. All should be calm

    Hasta
