    Just found this thread! I'm in Colorado Springs and am going to try and ride over to BV after work on the 15th and tent camp. Likely going to meet up with another group in Breckenridge Saturday afternoon and ride back to COS.

    I'll be leaving SLC on the 14th. arriving at B.V. that afternoon. I assume most of us will arrive later in the day so I'll find a place to eat before I pull into at the Arrowhead.

    Remember, the town of Buena Vista is about 5 miles from the Arrowhead....plan ahead. [IMG]

    Rides:
    There won't be an organized 'group ride'. There are lots of options for riding near B.V. that have been listed in previous posts. Pick what appeals to you. If the entire group picks the same place...that works!

    For me;
    On the 15th I plan to ride to Bishops Castle (230 RT loop).

    For the 16th....probably ride to Mt Evans (260 RT)
    From CDOT - Mount Evans Length: 49 miles Driving time: 2 hours
    The Mount Evans Scenic Byway climbs more than 7,000 feet in just 28 miles, reaching an altitude of 14,130 feet. At the summit you'll enjoy the big picture - the entire Front Range sprawls at your feet - but don't overlook the details. This highest of Rocky Mountain highs brings you to the rarefied world above timberline, a singular amalgam of hardy wildflowers, lichens and grasses, furry mammals like pikas and marmots, rock-jumping mountain goats, and alpine lakes. This is perhaps the best place in Colorado to catch a glimpse of the stately bighorn sheep. The weather is volatile - be prepared for wind, rain, lightning, snow, and hail any day of the year.

    Dinners:
    I've found 3 eatery's in B.V. that appeal to me; Cowboy Dash, Jan's Restaurant, and Pancho's.

    Of the three I liked Jan's the best, mainly because whoever answered the phone had a sexy voice....and you know how important that is! Dinners at Jan's are around $12 to 14.00 For anyone who wants to eat as a group, plan on meeting at Jan's at 5:30 on Friday (15th). B.V. is about 5 miles from the Arrowhead and I prefer not to ride mountain roads in the dark... 5:30 should give us time for a leisurely meal / conversation and ride back in good light.
    Jan's addy - 304 US hwy 24

    Details for Saturday's ride and dinner can be made during Friday's dinner.

    If anyone desires a fire at night, firewood can be purchased at the Arrowhead...we can pass the hat for a firewood fund if we choose. It would be best if we make that decision before we arrive so we're not scrambling around in the scary dark [IMG] for wood and matches.....

    Well, sorry to say I am out. Caught a big job for that weekend.

    Have fun out there everyone!

    As for the food choices above. Jan's is great for breakfast. The little diary place in town is busy...cash only...good and fun and should be open. Quincy's is required if you are a meat eater. Seriously, they will prepare tenderloin cheaper than you can get in City Market across the street. All the fixins
