Well that woke me up . Shook pretty good here in the Kern River Valley .
Ridgecrest would be the closest town . Hopefully not too much damage.

It was a nice gentle sway in Santa Barbara. Seemed to go on longer than usual.

Seismic activity is the reason for all of those mountains and for all of those mines in that area.

Just a long roller in LA. (Wouldn't have all the great roads here in CA without the quakes)

Didn’t feel a thing here in Eastvale, 120 miles away. I was in the shower after a long ride and people starting texting “are you okay?” News shows some markets in Ridgecrest got pretty messed up. Lots of red wine on the floor!

a good reminder to be prepared.

the quake's aftermath will be the one that will get us. went to my main gas line valve and put a 9mm open wrench next to it using a stainless steel bailing wire. the same one in in our bike emergency kit. a 10mm will work too. it's not easy to turn it off, the valve feels stuck mainly i don't have the leverage. best would be a 12" adjustable wrench or this.

    $4 on the web!

If I give you my address down there, could you check on my house?

Oh, that's right, no house. Nevermind.

I installed automatic gas shutoff valves on my house and both my sisters' houses.

Now I think I'll go change the water in my earthquake box.

The news coverage is being pretty pathetic while they are trying really hard to get as much drama as they can possibly manufacture.

No shit. The LA news is pathetic trying to drum up drama from people that barely felt it.

I work in Trona, and was in my office when it hit. It was pretty gnarly. I work in a lab, and it got completely trashed. We all got to cover before the glass and ceiling started coming down.

Couple fires in town from broken gas lines, I think a gas station went up too. No damage to my house, but quite a few broken things at the family homes.

Trona actually got it pretty bad, roads are jacked up, no power and a bunch of broken water mains
