Thanks Ward, hope to see you some time in the next week. The sprockets and chain are on and the bike feels great.
Ms C, thanks for taking the time. I've been loving it...I'm going to save some...gonna sleep overnight on page 11. Thanks for a great report. On-On! MSMD LWH3
Thanks Gwen, I'll take you up on that VA Thai food , but it'll have to be another trip. Just got back. Great time!
Bump. My husband nagged me 'til I found this and read it. Was thinking...well, lusting about a BMW G650...and NOW I'm thinking maybe I don't need all that HP...a nice 250 might be just the ticket. And WAY more within the budget. Absolutely loved this RR. Next one??
This was one of my intros to ADV. I'd joined but didn't surf or lurk. The attitude, outlook, community and friendship shown in this thread drew me in. Doble bump.
She is definately one of the cool kids and this is one of my all time favorite threads. I think I will read it again.
Wow!! Great RR and I could relate on so many levels. I found my way here from a link on the "minimalist 250 or less" thread. I recently picked up a Honda xl250r that I've been in the process of bringing back to life. That is how I ended up on ADV board. Last summer I had some vacation time banked and headed west from MA to NM then north to MT, crisscrossing the continental divide. It was great to see some familiar sites from your route.. Rio Grande, Pagosa Springs, Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Your ending was perfect too. My seven year old son is named Alex as well and I couldn't wait to see him. I sent him a ton of post cards along my route. One year later he now has a baby brother. Not a day goes by that I don't think of the great time I had on my trip and can't wait to share some adventures with my sons. I also met some great folks and enjoyed the same camping style as you. That was on my sportster. Looking forward to a get away backroads trip through New England on my 250! Thanks again for sharing your trip.
Awesome ride report! I read every page! I'm glad you guys bumped this because it's one of those reports everyone should read!
