Found a 1990 600xt with 7500 miles and a 1998 KLR650 with 7400 miles. Both are listed for $1500. Was hoping I could get some opinions think they are both a good deal. Thanks

You'd probably be better of with the Klr. The XT600 is long extinct in the US and the parts availability won't be as good. Also the XT is air cooled and probably won't last as long. And unless you're talking about the xt600E you won't have electric start. Kick starting get's old. I had a XT550 for a few years. I enjoyed the bike but eventually replaced it with a KLR for all the reasons I mentioned.

Thanks I will go look at the KLR. Looks good from the pictures but as you probably know they can lie.

The XT600s, although discontinued in the U.S. around 1996, are fairly easy to still get parts for. I believe they were still being produced in other markets up until about the mid 2000s. The 1990 you mentioned would be the "E" model which is electric start.
It's easier to get parts for my 1984 Yamaha TT600 than it is for my 1999 KTM 640E. :bluduh

Even though the XT is air cooled, it's a robust design with the potential for way more power than stock.
I know of people who have road raced and flat tracked these bikes and 60-70 horsepower is not uncommon.

Good luck with whichever bike you end up with. :thumb

I live at 9000 feet elevation if that makes any difference?
