That sucks big time and I am sure many of us northerners are ashamed of this ahole. Not to say that crime doesn't happen up north, but this is the first time that I've heard of this happening to a bike traveler in a rural place op here. You can be sure I will gently massage the tenders of the culprit with the tip of my boot for ya if I get a chance.
I'm guessing here but that probably wasn't an Alaskan that snagged your stuff. Generally it's a pretty safe place.
In Tok though... in a camping spot? Those aren't locals and all bets are off.
Sorry to hear it all the same.
Yeah, sorry to hear it. It was great getting to meet you too.
I'm working today till about 8 and will be home shortly after that.
I'm thinking about riding over Hatcher Pass tomorrow and shooting a new to me 45ACP if you're interested.
Here's to a continued safe and fun filled journey, Mark H.
Not Ma and Pa Kettle or Alaskans.
Sorry to here about that. I used to live in Tok for many years and its not a thieven place but leaving your gear on your bike in a place that people pass though all hours of the day and night isn't too wise. Unless you are in the middle of the woods all by your self don't leave gear on your bike even then the bears are thieves too.
Be on the lookout for a bear wearing Haines Boxers!!!! May have an unusually good understanding of US history.
