I don't think Akrapovic sells the 690 RFR mufflers any more, so you will have a hard time getting parts for them because there is no diagram and parts list that I am aware of.

Your best bet is Lyndon, he was/is (?) making equally high quality replicas mufflers in titanium, mine have about 80.000 kms on them and sound absolutely lovely, deep and rumbly while not annoyingly barking and loud. Put a smile on my face every time I start the bike.

    Hello,
I am thinking of putting a 2017 701 in my RFR. I don't understand how you proceed with the plugs/coil. Did you use the single coil of the RFR that you wired to the two plugs of the 701? Thank you

Yes, that's the easy way to do it. Just connect your coil to the main center plug and leave the other one, the rest of the head is the same as the old single plug. At least that was the case with a 2015 engine in my 2008 690 RFR.

    Thank you Lukas,
is it more difficult to keep the stator from the 701 and make the double plus work? That would be more elegant ^^
in any case, what ignition map should I run?
    Thanks
    Guillaume

I don't understand your question, the stator is the same for all years as far as I know.

If you mean the coil, I don't know anybody that has made a dual plug system work on the carbureted 690 RFR. It will get complicated as the dual plugs don't/shouldn't fire at the same time, so you would need a different ECU to control the spark. And simply running the ECU from the Enduro/SMC is unlikely to work with a carb if you leave the rest of the EFI system off.

OK it is pretty clear then.
Single plug, coil from the RFR, stock ignition map from the RFR.
    Many thanks

What about keeping the ecu of the 701, then put the FI and the dual plug? What fuel pump should i fit?

Did you end up installing a 701 dual balance engine in the 690rfr?

Interested in hearing more about how you're tackling the dual plug thing
