.. i have a non painted rear 690 rally tank, send me a email:
Thanx mate, but just after the front ones.
Will keep it in mind though.
Would any of you guys have a step by step guide to a piston change?
I want to drop a new piston before my next rally and have enevr done it on this bike before.
Just checked my manuals, and they were not workshop manuals - only chassis and engine spare parts manuals and owner's manual. Nothing about piston change or other more detailed engine work in the latter.
Except from that: I have in vain sent an email to Daniela Leidl at KTM about Akrapovic silencers. Not even the faintest reply yet since that mail was sent 28th of November last year.
Maybe she was out of office or don't work there any more.
Cummo, what makes you think the piston change should be different from any other bike?
Do you just need specific measurements and torque values, or the entire procedure?
BTW: I'm also rebuilding my bike ATM during the winter break :
try it again some days after the Dakar, she still works there !!!
Does that indicate she's tied up with the Dakar operations from Austria or actually on the ground with KTM Racing Team in SA?
No big deal. Just nice to know since it's snowy and cold and my summer bikes are well parked now.
Maybe I'll just call them on the phone at KTM HQ in Austria.
THanks mate, managed to get a copy from Wes.
Hi Tony, I actually had no idea where the TDC lock was or where the cam TDC indicator was! Different to other KTM engines I have worked on....sorted now and some good tips in the manual also so should be good to go. If it stops in the DC you will know why....
Something tells me a GoPro helmet cam is a good investment this summer

Where is this video taken? Looks like mediterian area...
Most likely the Douro valley in Portugal. Looks like a nice place to be!
Can't decide whether I think this is pretty or not. Looks a bit like Aprilia exhaust pipes:
Uhhh, arg, they look like scooter exhausts or old moto gp exhausts pipes.
Go for the akrapovic titanium pipes, do you reached Daniela Leidl ?
Yeah, if only KTM could get their finger out! I'm starting to get pissed off by now.
Get the distinct feeling that having a race bike on street plates is a big "no-can-do" or "we-will-ignore-you" idea!
No response from Daniela Leidl 18th of January - other than a cryptic "Out Of Office"-note. She must be in some kind of ignore-modus - or be constantly out of office since 18th November !
Have you tried contact her through Facebook?
There's absolutely no serious business done by me on Facebook. She's got a few rally riders listed as "her friends" and no info whatsoever about KTM or anything shown - so that appears to be her privileged, private FB-site.
I'll start pulling some strings via my local KTM dealership instead. This sucks.
Edit: I read between the lines "since you're not an accredited and licensed FIM rally rider - we make no deals with you outside the dealer network." I'm OK with that, but the total lack of response is nothing but ignorant. I'm not asking for a team truck and big support. I'm just after a few 690RR parts that's already out there on the market. A pair of Acrapovic silencers are not exactly a big effort or tall order.
PM me, I will give you another way into the rally department.
PM me what you need exactly, are you interested in used akarapovic silencers, in very good conditions ?
