Here we go for the trail into Heart Attack hill.
The pinion mountain trail, 10 miles to the drop off.
It was 10 years ago, I was to young to get scared! Laptop Pictures-Misc 1195.JPG

    Sweet ride so far.
    Laptop Pictures-Misc 1196.JPG
    We are going there
    Laptop Pictures-Misc 1206.JPG

Not the trail. Thought I saw some tire tracks going down. Laptop Pictures-Misc 1209.JPG

    This is the trail.
    Laptop Pictures-Misc 1211.JPG
Climbed up the rock fest to see how we are going to get thru'
    Laptop Pictures-Misc 1212.JPG

Might be a good time to check the map
    Laptop Pictures-Misc 1213.JPG

We are not to the squeeze yet, but soon!

Laptop Pictures-Misc 1221.JPG So now we are at the top of the drop off. Do we have a plan?
OK, we will get the 400 Kawasaki down, Dwight will check what lies ahead. If bad news, maybe we can get him back to the top.
At the ranger station, he said it was a one way hill, but MAYBE a bike could go up it.
    Laptop Pictures-Misc 1215.JPG
I had no idea where we were, I asked D if he had his passport, it felt like Mexico!
But I did see the Salton Sea in the top left corner, checked my GPS we are are at 3500 ft.
Might as well admit right now, only using the GPS for track back mode. Didn't have any local tracks on it.
    Laptop Pictures-Misc 1216.JPG

So off he goes, will I ever see him again?
    Yep. Laptop Pictures-Misc 1219.JPG

Now I must say, this guy hates to ever have to backtrack, he always says every road goes somewhere, so I guess I will have to follow.
    He's coming back for me.
    Laptop Pictures-Misc 1222.JPG

There is my rope in the rebar at the top.
    Laptop Pictures-Misc 1224.JPG

What have we done! I guess we are committed now.
Next up was a gnarly climb up. We walked that, I chose to walk my bike up in low gear.
He was going to do the same, BUT no, he jumps on and rides it. Confidence is a great thing.
    Laptop Pictures-Misc 1225.JPG
The next 15 miles was a blur, sand and just point and shoot for FISH Creek.
We finally got out, and Junior there still has some energy, doing donuts , HAPPY guys.

Drove up from Borrego this morning Steve. A crap load of rain yesterday afternoon, last night and this morning.

Lot's of hazards coming off the mountain all over Montezuma Valley Rd. on the way up.

This thread has been terrific Steve, that being said, post more maps! The one you posted is great, got anymore?

I watch your RRs and want to try and find that cabin. The weather has not been normal, too cold last Feb. for this wimp to head up the grade into your area!

Hey Rudy, that's it, I too want to check those out. There is a cool cabin that @WHYNOWTHEN has shown on his RR. I feel it might be off one of those trails. Thanks for checking in.

Well what a great RR, or should I say RR's. I just get that awe from the photos and can only dream what it's like to see in person. We all know photos just scratch the surface of the beauty. Then to add the text and knowledge of our author tops the ice cream with a cherry.

Thanks for your time and consideration of sharing your Adventures.

Would love to join sometime if you ever think about putting a group ride together.

    Peace

Hey Snake Oiler, thanks for the feedback. You are right about photos don't always show the real beauty of some places, but at least it shows what a great country we have to explore. I live in Canada all year , but get to go south for a few months, so don't know about ever meeting up. I will let you know when and where I will be next time we go down. cheers.

Sam, thanks a lot for the push. Really had fun doing the report. Mainly using Olympus D 565, old as dirt!
There is much to see around your small town for sure. Cool thing is, at can change everything after a good rain. If you run into Jeff, say hi from me.
And regarding guiding, I work for food!

Should have brought some Monkey Bikes, and carried them across the slide.
So we backtracked the 60 km to the Sasquatch Inn, and went home.
Next up is the other side of the Lake.
