Weird, I live here and have only head bits and pieces of this story. Although, there was a drug deal gone sour a few years ago and a charred body was found inside a burnt car within a few miles of there. North side of 160 between Forest City Rd and Lake City Rd.

Did you take those pics of the pageant grounds and the Z Bar the other weekend? Suprised to see that much green in the pics, we only had 64 days over 100 degrees this year!:eek1

We got a few rains in late August / early September and it brightened things up a lot. Out west by the county line a lot of the native grass never even greened up this spring. It was really beginning to look like West Texas in places, everything was just burnt to a crisp!!

We had a really good treaty this year, over 10,000 people downtown for Saturday mornings parade. Over an hour and a half late getting saturdays pageant started and they had to turn people away because they ran out of seating.

If we can get the old treaty council members to bow out, there will be another one. There will always be a peace treaty weekend in town, but the peageant is still iffy. It takes a ton of people and time and equipment to put this on. Most folks cant justify keeping draft horses to only use them every 4 or 5 years

Awesome pics of the reenactors I could just imagine not knowing they were there and coming over a rise to see the Kiowa in full battle dress coming at me. :freaky

I know those folks!! And you were on the east side of Main, probably in front of the Sawdust Saloon or in front of Chads Place.

Martina McBride sang the national anthem Sat morning and was at the street dance Sat night.

I kinda remember staggering home Sat night, everyone said I was leaning on my wife :freaky

Cool story, The Lodge as I call it is by far the best place in Kansas to ride for me anyway. I love it out there. I do have a question. Last time I was out there the road to Flower Pot says no trespassing. Is it closed??? Matter of fact headed to a Lodge Meeting as I call it this saturday with lunch at Buster's life is good.
