This year is the 75th anniversary of D Day in Normany, France. So I wanted to do a euro tour on my 1942 Harley WLA army bike. I drug a few friends along with me as well.
So 5 of us shipped our bikes from the USA to Derby, England and are heading south today to catch the boat to France. After that, we will head east, and re invade Germany, visiting WW2 sights along the way. After a month, 3 of the guys will head home (jobs and stuff) but my friend Kelly and I will head southeast for another month or so, going to Bulgaria, before returning to Germany where we will ship the bikes home.

Yesterday we did an 80 mile shakedown ride thru the countryside to make sure the bikes were ready, luggage wouldn't fall off, etc

Just the wooden stocks, we left our guns at home. I hear the germans have calmed down a bit.

Here's my bike. I was told I needed to name it, so I named it Patina Turner.
Because it has patina, and I beat the shit out of it.

My Dad (94 years old) just returned from the Czech Republic after having visited for Liberation Days. He returns every year to Pilzn where he finished out his time overseas. Do yourself a favor and have a Pilsner while you are over there. The way the Czech people welcome the WW2 vets every year will bring a tear to your eyes.

Made it to Poole yesterday, today the ferry to France. 300 miles of small roads from Derby to here, really nice slow ride thru the countryside, with only a little rain. It could be a little warmer tho!

Actually this is warmer! :photog I see you found Sammy Millars' museum and hopefully the cake in the café. Poole is a bike mecca in the summer on a Wednesday I believe with that whole front chock full. Hopefully the crossing was good as that one can get a bit bumpy due to the shape of the ship. Your president was here today too in Eastleigh and just along the coast, small world. Bon voyage
