The carb cleaner is the stuff in a 1 gal pail that Autozone etc sell. Made by Gunk. the spray cans are just to spray it off. http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/GU...2WFY6&ef_id=UHwsbgAAGUfFvj5C:20130613201744:s
Got the Gunk hopefully I will be able to clean the carb tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for finding that I will be ordering one soon!
Another quick update, got the carb clean today. Looks like next step is going to be draining/refilling all of the oil in the bike (the oil in there looks really bad I'm hoping that won't cause problems?)
Oil wasn't as bad as I originally thought. Got the carb back on, just need to get the rubber boot on it got to dark for me to finish putting it on, fill all of the oil, and then hopefully attempt a start. Today I did notice that the carb jet is questionable, is that a standard part? Also before I get fuel in are there any additives that I should mix in?
I showed it to my dad and he said it looked sketchy and might not work so I am afraid it will hurt something if I start it and he is right
Thank you everybody for the help, it got started tonight for the first time in over 30 years. Just circles in the driveway without the fuel tank on, but it runs. Unfortunately now comes the realization that the bike is just not a good bike for beginners and it will be time for me to sell it in favor of something smaller, but it is such a good feeling to see that bike that I have been staring at for as long as I can remember in my grandfather's basement running.
take the carb off make sure no jets are plugged and the float is working correctly also be sure the injectors in the resvoir are not plugged or not working cause if they are shot then it wont get oil and the motor will sieze up if it runs, hopefully it was not ran out of oil at some point in time either but those 75 dt400s are good bikes
