Have a look up behind the rad where the thermostat is. I *think* it was the hose clamp into the thermostat, but may have been the front bolt on the thermostat itself. It did require some disassembly, but I did not drain coolant or pull the rad. Get a small 1/4" ratchet with a 8mm bit or a ratcheting 8mm spanner and you should be able to tighten them. While in there, give every hose clamp (6mm) a couple turns to sung them up. Heat cycles make rubber softer and when they build these bikes they don't have time to heat cycle and re-tighten everything.

Thanks, I haven't had the tank off myself yet, but it's raining today, so a bit of a garage sesh might be in order. The problem with taking it to the dealership for this is that by the time I get there, everything has warmed up and is dry so they really don't know where to look.

Tank off is pretty simple. Close both petcocks, remove both breather hoses from top, take off fuel crossoverline (have a can or jug for the spillage), pop off fuel line from the top left side (watch for that little green keeper so it doesn't fall out), remove fuel sender connection and fuel pump connection from the bottom of each side, then just the four bolts that hold the tank to frame. They are 2 piece rubber grommets on them so usually the bottom/inside halves I find after pulling the tank.

While you have it off, check the vent lines going in to the carbon filter/smog box on bottom right side. Both of my vent lines going in were pinched right shut and not routed properly. Musta been a friday build. The tank wasn't venting at all so it would literally pop when I opened the gas tank to fill it.

Edit* - The other problem with dealers is they usually fark something up or cause another issue. Some are good, most I avoid just out of not wanting to have to deal with aftermath of someone else's poor mechanic skills, lol!

That's gross dude. Is that from mileage or a destroyed clutch? On the bright side, your shifting will probably be a whole lot smoother with fresh oil.

Some cut line I found just north of Thunder Bay.

It’s one of the cool things about this area. I can ride 10 minutes and find shit that would take me 4 hours to find outside Edmonton.

HA! I thought that was an AB plate... That's a pretty awesome area there and I agree... Deadmonton is brutal for scenic riding stuff. Should try heading south though, anything west of Hwy40 pretty much the length of AB is amazing.

I had Warp9 make 17” wheels for my 790 Adv R . Just ordered a 1290 Carbon front fender for my 790 . It will take making some custom bracket to make it fit. But taking off the high fender makes it into a different looking beast. IMG_2627.jpg
