Why can't some knucklehead build an air seat. Even kick it old school and use a hand pump. Go from trail comfort/geometry to HWY in a few pumps. As easy as a few pumps of sugar free hazelnut in a grande soy, extra hot, extra wet latte...

Yes, this bike is bound to be a huge failure even before it's launched... :baldy

Everyone has been asking for a bike with the size, weight and abilities of the 690, but with the power of the 990 and the fuel range of the 1X90. KTM actually build something extremely close to that and now everyone's unhappy with something.

I think we should convince them to produce a 1390R with 200HP, an adjustable recliner seat and integrated helium tanks for weight reduction.

    Just sayin'...

The average height and weight of people in Europe is shorter/lighter, which is where they'll sell most of their bikes.

Think it looks great and a lot of fun but we are seeing pre-production stuff could be significantly different from current pics,
looks to be lacking in weather protection and space for boxes.

    The KTM 790 Adventure Highlights
The goal: to put the agile yet powerful new in-line twin motor to effective use, allowing a more compact layout.
    Over 400 km range
: “The wish: ride further, for longer. We aimed for a fuel volume that would allow around 400 km of riding. So, we slung the fuel-cells low, for an agility not typical for big twins or larger fuel volumes.”

Below 100 hp: “Challenge: a smooth engine for distance travel and long service intervals, but with tractable offroad-friendly power. The new LC8c in-line twin's planned output in the region of 100 horsepower, combined with modern electronics, will make this possible.”

25 kg weight saving: “A goal weight reduction of at least 25 kg compared to current ADVENTURE V-twin models, will open up new terrain and more technical riding for a wide range of daring adventure riders.”

So coming from a 1190r [yes it's a heavy bitch] if the 790 is 50 lb. lighter and down 50 hp. that's a bad trade.

I know a 150 hp. is a lot more hp. then you need, specially off road, but the power to weight ratio loss is hard to ignore.

If you could get that same ratio on a new 1190 it would be putting out 500 hp.

Prices will be announced next week at EICMIA when the official bike is shown, so no need for 'rumours'.

450 wet off the showroom is pretty respectable, as we know the first 25lbs comes off relatively easily.

50 lb lighter and down 50hp is totally worth it! 100hp for an off-road bike, or on road bike, is more than enough. If I could lose 50 lbs in exchange for 50 hp on my 1290 I would totally jump on it. Especially, since off-road mode is already capping the 1290 to 100hp anyway. Might be a little less thrilling on the road, but I'm not trying to do 0-60 times out of every corner or stoplight.

Well it’s not just the 50hp decrease like off-road mode does on our 1190s. We still have the torque available, down low especially, in off road. A drop in displacement means power is down relative. 50lb, to me, is not a big drop as my 1190 is around 550lb and if you think yours isn’t you have not weighed it.

lou you make it sound like the 790 will about the same weight and power as the 990a,,,,,, i share your disappointment, we all know the 990 was an overweight, underpowered pig of a bike that is terrible to ride off road:1drink

And to make things worse it will have double the fuel range.

Yes... I realize my bike is heavy. I also just sold my Tiger 800 which was 50 pounds lighter. And it could felt. But if this new bike is truly 450 wet, that's probably 100 pounds lighter than my bike. And even more worth it. The specs should be coming out soon!
