Can confirm that my dealer first “removed” my quickshifter at the 1000km service, but was able to re-install it a week later. So i guess they are available again :)

I can't vouch for how it works on the KTM, but on my S1000RR there's a sensor that detects shifter movement and cuts ignition for a split second, taking the load off the gears that are engaged and this drastically reduces the amount of force your foot is required to put on the lever to shift gears. It's not like a paddle-shifted manual gearbox in a car where IT shifts for you (activating the clutches and physically shifting). So, what I've found is that putting around town, I still use the clutch to shift because it's a lot smoother, BUT, the amount I need to pull the clutch in is drastically reduced. At higher RPMs in the canyon, say, above 5k RPM, it works perfectly and without the need to use the clutch at all. So, since the KTM's is probably an ignition-kill type like the BMW's, it probably has the same quirks.

I'll know better when I get my 890 R next year.
