We've been getting requests, the mods are cool with it. Right thing to do?

But names. One idea is to simplify so we don't confuse as many nOObs and Google. Maybe just call it KTM 790.

The simplest would be to change the names of the 3 Orange Crush subs to

    KTM 790
    KTM 950/990
    KTM 1090/1190/1290

    Anyone have better ideas?

That works for me. I just want to see a 790 sub-forum, a clever name doesn't make it any more useful.

Might be good to organize it by engine type?

    KTM Singles
    KTM Parallel Twins
    KTM V-Twins

KTM Singles would be the big singles, 450 and 500 EXC’s that more and more people are taking on longer trips, as well as the 690.

KTM Parallel Twins would be 790’s and other incoming displacement parallel twins KTM have in the works.

KTM V-Twins would of course be 950/990/1090/1190/1290.

We're not merging singles at this time and it doesn't make sense to merge 950/990 with 1X90.

    How about a cool name.

Thank you! The 950/990 forum is overrun with 790s. Don’t get me wrong, the 790 is awesome, but it’s 11 years newer and very different from the 950/990. As a new 990 owner with lots of research and work going into it, I find it frustrating so sift through the 790 posts for relevant posts.

The 690/790/890 might be similar enough to put into 1 forum like the 1090/1190/1290.

The 950/990 forum should be just that.

I'm for the cool names, maybe adding CC numbers for distracted people: 790, 950/990, 1190/1290.

That makes a tremendous amount of sense. Thanks! One thing that concerns me is The Thumper regulars are pretty adamant about keeping all thumpers in one big sub and having model-based threads. I don’t understand why but they’re super adamant about it.

So I thought we’d solve the 790 issue first and then tackle the thumper hairball.

I‘m also thinking that aligning forum names with the way KTM refers to their bikes probably creates the least confusion. Do you think most people know that the 790 is a parallel twin versus the bigger ones being v-twins?

I think MOST do. I'd say someone that made the mistake of not knowing would be steered in the right direction pretty quickly, to keep the riffraff off the (whichever) lawn.

I don’t have any preference on names but my vote would be against combining the big bikes into one V-twin sub. I think there is enough differences between the 950/990 and 1x90s to warrant keeping them separate.

I agree, there's a ton of history with the 950/990 forum and the content is quite a bit different from the 1X90 discussion. We'll be leaving the 950/990 forum as is for now.

We can have the model numbers be part of the forum name but it'd be cool if there was a catchy name that captures the spirit of 790 riding to include with the model number description.
