Hey guys! So here's the story. My friend and I bought a couple of dual sports earlier this year. We took a mutual friend with us (Mike) when we were shopping that has a 1987 Yamaha YZF125. His YZF has a blown rear shock but isn't financially able to buy a new one or get his rebuilt. So my friend and I want to go in on a used one for him. He's in tech school and working as an oil changer at a car dealership. Do any of you have a lead on one or know if one can be retrofitted from a newer model? The newer ones seem way more available!
Yz 125s were changing quite a bit then. I would look for an 82 shock on ebay Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
The 82's will only except an 82 shock. They are quite different than the preceeding and post years. The whole 82 rear suspension was really off the mark.
I would but the inside of the shock housing is gouged up badly. It's going to be way too expensive getting it rebuilt since it will need to be re chromed
Make it or break it: 16 3/4" fully extended, and it has a lot of travel. 10mm and 12mm mounting holes.
